hello all,
I've been using mediaportal for a while now. Solely for watching Divx movies, listening to music and occassionally surf the 'net. Now I want to get into recording a few TV shows to my HTPC. I have Dish Network with a DVR box. I talked to my resident HTPC guru here at the office and he helped me decipher some things. It looks like this is the card for me to get:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16815116633
Basically, the svideo out from the DVR will go into the svideo-in of the tuner. For audio, the rca-audio-out from the DVR will go directly into the rca-audio-in of the tuner card. When viewing the recorded shows, the output will be handled by the video card's svide-out. That's already connected to the TV. Whew! What a mouthful! All in all, it's just an extra PCI card and two extra cables added to my entertainment center's "snake pit". LOL
Does this make sense to you guys?
Thanks,
Hector
