well i am using both the client and TV Server but it will not start the supend after any amount of time.

Both are set to 15 minutes and left on the basichome screen for any amount of time but no supend happens?

Tsurany with both Tv Server and Cleint setup to 15mins should I check or uncheck the shutdown on homescreen button?

I want it to shutdown in any screen not just the home screen and I want this to happen when the PC is idle (not playing media or recording).

Yeah I had that same problem, don't know how to fix it. This should be so easy to solve with a simple plugin or an update. Unfortunately I don't know how to make one.

Uncheck the shutdown on homescreen, as far as I know it will then only shutdown when you are in the main menu, so not when you are looking at your movies or when being idle in the music list.

Got it half working now, set it on 2 minutes in mediaportal config and tvserver config and it hibernates when mediaportal is idle.

Hi Bertybassett (and others),

Not sure if this info will help you, but I've been having some issues getting standby working with MediaPortal of late, and in the end it turned out that my cordless mouse was the culprit - even though it wasn't being used. Without the MediaPortal client running, Tv Server would put the PC into standby OK, but then occasionally the PC seemed to be waking up on its own. Other times, with the MediaPortal client running, the PC would standby some of the time, but not others. When I checked the MP log file I could see that the PowerScheduler client has logged an "input" record - as I said, even though I was leaving the thing completely alone.

Now that I've taken the cordless mouse far enough away that it's out of range, the PC is going to standby everytime I expect it to, and not waking unless I tell it to do so.

This could be part of your problem - perhaps a device is triggering an "input" notification to the PowerScheduler client within MediaPortal which is then resetting the idle timeout for standby.

Cheers,
Craig

craigparris1 how do I check the logs to see if anything is stopping it from going into idle?

Also noticed with "shutdown on home screen only" checked it will supend on basic home screen fine. Without this checked the supend never happens on the basic home screen or any screen (expect the full home screen) I think I have found a bug in the software. Going to test on my laptop tonight, see if the same happens in RC1 without SVN.

Just thougth of some thing, I wonder if the Monochrome skin with its extra plugins is causing this problem? I wonder if these extra plugins are preventing the idle state. I'll check this out tonight too.

Nope Monochrome can't be the problem, works fine with me. Running monochrome and TV series plugin and it goes into hibernate perfectly.

mine goes into stand by fine but only on basic home screen when I check shutdown only on home screen not when uncheck.

This real is doing my head in, no test for further testing as I m upgrading my first gen iPhone to firmware 2.0 and apps then got to join iPhone queue out side O2 for 3G version.

Got a lovelly app on there called remote app lets you control itunes from iphone can even browse by cover art. Now if only we could do that with media portal.

still need my question answering.

Does anyone have the configuration programs setting unchecked for "shut only on home screen" and can get the program to shut down on other screens apart from basic ones?

I rekcon this does not work and is a bug, as I've tried it on Vista and XP and but system the same happens (nothing, with or with out this checked).

Just need a yes or no from some that this does work for them

Hi bertybassett55,

I'll double-check tonight and let you know - but I'm sure I've seen my PC go into standby on either the MyTV or RecordedTV screens (of course, live TV has to have been stopped first). I did do a fair bit of playing around with the standby stuff before it seemed I'd got it all working as it should.

In terms of checking the logs for activity that would prevent idle standby, I had noticed when I was doing some testing of other stuff that the PowerScheduler client logs stuff in the MediaPortal log file (i think Documents and Settings\All Users\Team Media Portal\Media Portal\log) to say whether it's received client input or has signalled to the server that it's now idle. I didn't actually look in the TV Server log file, but I'd imagine that the plug-in on the TV Server side would log similar messages. You'll need to have the log setting on "verbose" first. (or is it "debug"? I can't remember ... at work at the moment)

Cheers,
Craig
