Hey Julio,
Quick question on the capabilities of MyBlaster. I currently use a satellite STB connected to my Hauppauge PVR-150-MCE. Right now, I dont have MyBlaster set up, so I have just a single SVideo channel configured in MP and do all my channel-changing with the original STB remote. The main reason why I have not gone to MyBlaster for channel-changing is that the STB includes a comprehensive on-screen menu system for viewing upcoming schedules, entering passkeys for buying pay-per-views etc etc. These features makes use of a number of buttons on the STB remote eg. 4 directional arrow keys, a big OK button, the 4 coloured buttons etc. Pretty much all of these buttons also exist on the MCE remote control so what I would like to do is when I am viewing TV in fullscreen mode only, have all button-presses on my MCE remote just rebroadcast (via the blaster) to the STB so that they emulate the original STB remote commands. (Obviously I would have to learn all the STB remote codes and match them up to the relevant key on the MCE remote of course). Note that I only want this to happen in fullscreen TV mode, otherwise I wont be able to navigate the MP menus.

Presuambly this is not currently supported by MyBlaster, so I am just wondering, is it even possible within the current design? If so, how hard would it be to implement do you reckon?

Thanks heaps
Cheers
Brett

    Waveslam:

The MyBlaster plugin is for mapping external channels in MediaPortal and having it automatically change to the right channel on your STB.

Remapping the MCE remote buttons depending on the context you are in is something that is supported by a plugin I'm developing.

Have a look at this thread:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/showthread.php?t=11068

And give it a try if you like. It's still early days for my plugin but I'm hoping to release a new version hen the next stable release is announced. At the moment it requires a recent SVN (22nd of September or newer).

I'm just trying to get people to test it at the moment before it goes into the wider community.

Let me know if you try it out,

    Cheers,

    Hi,
I am using a Microsoft branded blaster model 1040. I have tried blaster before but could not get it to work. thought I would try your upgrade version still having problems.
I am using Windows XP Pro SP2.

I find that when running blaster.exe that after a radnom number of attempts to learn (or time I am not sure which ) that eventually the test button stops working i.e the buds no longer flash. I have to rebbot the PC for it to work again. What can I do to trace this problem?

I am trying to program the codes for my Satelite Box (Austar model ABS-1076) and I never seem to be able to get all numbers to reliably operate the box. I have managed to get up to 5 numbers to work before I have to reboot. After I have rebooted the numbers I have got working no longer work and data length is set to zero. (Is blaster.exe meant to read any existing data from the dat file?)

Are their any switches that I can use to help and where will I find any error logging?

    Cheers

    slipery,

You are having problems in the learning process, right? If so, the new drivers won't help you. They change nothing for the learning process.

If your problem is after learning, actually sending the signals to the STB, then yes, the driver might help you. My tip is trying to change the speed first. If that doesn't help, try changing the model and keeping the speed "slow".

    That worked for me.

    Hello Joboehl:

My problem is the same as slipery in that MyBlaster doesn't seem to save the learned numbers. I have no problem programming all the numbers and testing them, they just aren't there when I leave the configuration program and then go back in.

I had it working with a recent SVN but had to go back to the last stable version 2.0.0.4 or something like that. Haven't got MyBlaster working since. I guess it needs a newer SVN? If that is the case, then I think I will wait until the next stable version is introduced.

Can you confirm which version of MP is necessary to make MyBlaster save the learned keys?

    Thanks!!

    Dale,

AFIK, the blaster.exe program doesn't load the codes that you saved before. It doesn't mean it didn't save them, it just don't load it back. So everytime you load blaster.exe it will bring back blank fields.

I haven't tested blaster.exe with 2.0.4, was working more towards the SVN so it would work with 2.0.5 (2.1). I'll not be able to test it agains 2.0.4 before the weekend.

If you could post your mediaportal.log lines related to myblaster it can help in detecting what is happening.

Hi all, so needing a recent SVN explains why the updated MyBlaster doesn't work with 0.2.0.4 stable release ;-)

Can someone please tell me what MP does (i.e. what is sent to the blaster head) if no 'learning' has been carried out?

Also is the 'normal' version of MyBlaster compatible with the SMK (Hauppauge) MCE transceiver or do i need the update?

    Thanks,
    Lee

    Working on it. :)

Yes, but you need the forceport=2 trick.

In my case, the SMK transceiver also had problems with some frequencies that my stb uses due to sending only fast signals with the original plugin. That's why I added a option to control the signal speed.
