MP fails to wake up to record TV. When resume by pushing power button on MCE remote MP is reported as having crashed. MP does not normally crash if being resumed when NO recording was scheduled within the sleep/wake period. I am swapping between XP and Vista on this PC by use of Ghost images, I only have the first SVN for RC1 on the XP build, but it works fine there. Am running Vista Business as I don't want VMC opening in the middle of MP when certain remote keys were pushed - it did that a LOT under Vista Ultimate...

One bug down....now some more to follow up...

Thanks,
B.

The bit about how to disbale MCE is very good - this should get poked into a Wiki somewhere (assuming it works). I searched a lot to find out how to do that and came up empty handed...as I have an MSDN sub changing vista versions was easy...and more running MP ultimate is overkill anyway.

However, on both business and Ultimate MP will NOT wake to record....which is really what this bug is for....I shouldn't have mentioned the other stuff I guess...

I'm jumping back to XP for now. If there are fixes to try for this bug I can easily put this config back....

If you did not notice, i'm using ultimate, no problems with standby\resume for recordings, using TVServer\plugins\powerscheduler and MP config\plugin\powerscheduler client both enabled, this is single seat setup of course.
The only other options i have enabled, are TVServer\general wait 20 secs before detecting cards and MP config\general\startup delay, wait for tvserver to start enabled.

If you still have this setup, check in the TVServer schedules the program is listed for recording.

Looking through your logs to see if anything was amiss.

2008-05-17 21:14:00.676247 [14]: analog: failed to add audio compressor. you must install a supported audio encoder!

Are you using the analog card, over six mins of the logs are for failed graph building for EPG grab?

Your major bug is here though

2008-05-17 21:40:28.370125 [8]: subch:0 SetTimeShiftFileName no pmt received. Timeshifting failed
    2008-05-17 21:40:28.373055 [8]: card: remove user:HTPC sub:0

Indicating NO signal from the tuner after resume.

The logs show that the tuners were not reinitialised at 21.37 onwards which could cause the problem.

2008-05-17 21:18:40.289517 [5]: PowerScheduler: Reinitialize tvservice controller on wakeup: True

    Shows this should have occured.

I don't have an MCE remote to test but it looks like the TVSERVER powerschedular isn't reacting to the Power button on the MCE remote and the OS is handling the process without Powerschedular correctly decompose/reinitialise the tuners leading to NO signal and no setting of correct wake up events.

Needs a DEV to loook at this to see if in VISTA this is the problem.

Did the system infact go into standby between 21.20.30 and 21.37.54 otherise the logs aren't that helpful.

I use a mce remote to powerdown ocassionally into standby, powerscheduler still picks the event up.

    Hi,

I am using both PowerScheduler plugins in TV Server and MP - I have both set exactly the same (from memory pre-wake 300s, no sleep set to 600s, check every 25s and 'yes' to allow wake for events - I have the same settings in XP as I do in Vista. I am running in single seat configuration. The logs I sent are from the test I did to prove it wasn't working. Set a programe to record about 35 minutes into the future - put to sleep with power button a few minutes later (to make sure events are written so it 'knows' that it will have to wake. Machine fails to wake at the required time - I was watching it - simply didn't power on....no wonder then that it didn't record. As such though I think the failure to initialise record in the log is a little bogus as it suggests that is the problem, when really the problem was a lack of power to do it. When you resume MP from sleep MP crashes and gives you an error. Then the handy dandy log scrapper kicks in and packages the errors.

So as far as I can tell all setting OK....but no power-on from suspend to record.... :(

For my first bug I must say I am stunned at the fast (and number of) responses. Maybe its just weekend?

    Thanks
    B.

One thing i forgot to ask, is this with a user account or admin.

Have mine running in full admin account, wonder if that could be your problem.

Would be interested to know if Vista mce worked for you.

    Hi,

Yes, am running as full Administrator (i.e. the inbuilt Admin account). Gets round all the UAC stuff too....probably not ideal but for testing/setup it is the easiest mode to work in as permissions etc can largely be excluded from troubleshooting...

Yes, when I was running Ultimate I did try specifically run MCE to test the sleep/wake function as MP wouldn't play and for MCE it worked fine. Couldn't keep MCE though due to minimal DVB-S support even with registry bodges in place (e.g. still no DiSEqC support).

    Hope that helps,
    B.
