    Hi infinityloop,

are you sure this is the problem wewe has?
He's talking about standyby (S3) and you are talking in Mantis about Hibernation (S4).
Also to me it looks like that wewe is inside MYTV with a tuned channel when going to standby.
What ou describe in mantis is a recording scneario, where mytv is not necessary running at all.
    Correct?

    regards,

    Helmut

this has also been reported with S4 by ronilse. look at the note in mantis.

something is going wrong when entering S3 or S4 and now we know its not caused by the drivers.

Well he's refering to this thread and nothing else.
Can't talk about S4 hibernation, but i can speak about S3 standby.

For me there's absolutely no problem at all. I'm sending my pc to standby all the time.
Doing it with PVR-Scheduler after recordings, WITHOUT terminating MP and i'm also using the Remote Control button after listening to music.
PC goes to standby and after a resume, i'm directly in MP and can use TV without any problem.

What i never did is, what wewe is doing. I never sent the PC to standby while having TV on.
    Tried that now:

    1. TV in full screen -> standby
PC resumes and i have a black screen. Same as wewe.
Pressing "ESC" on keyboard, i am back to mytv (not fullscreen), and i have normal TV. Can go to full screen etc.

    2. TV running in myTv (no fullscreen) -> standby
PC resumes and i'm in the MP Home menu, with no TV running at all.
Can now enter mytv without any problems

As i never did this before, i don't know the behaviour that was after RC2.

I trust you, you're right that there are some problems with Hibernation (S4), which i can't test, but you seem to have invested a lot of time and found a problem there.

What i can't confirm is that the problems are there with Standby (S3).

Maybe wewe can tell us, what method S3 or S4 he's using.

    regards,

    Helmut

35 hours of testing to nail this bug down. countless reinstallations, driver versions and bios settings tested too.

you are right. S3 needs to be tested too.

    yup! That's the point.

    - beeing in fullscreen
    - sending PC to sleep (S3, whilst MP still running)
    - wakin' PC up

    -> black screen!!
    - by esc can go back to a distorted TV picture (wrong size, wrong colours)

I am quite sure that this is the same error as infinityloop reported (thanks for investing all this time!!).

Did you test just to send PC to sleep WITHOUT any powerscheduler or PVR Scheduler?

    I do it by:
    1. pressing PC on/off button (is configured to go to standby)
    2. remote button that I programmed with MP's function to standby

I tested hibernate as well: SAME result.

thanks so much to all of you!

    thanks&regards

    hwahrmann,
I don't understand this aggressive attack when a bug is found & why you not trust that I really have tested it?
I was originally testing Hibernation problems based on the problems reported by infinityloop when I run into others that have problem with Suspend & because the symptoms were the same as I had with S4, I started to test S3 to in similar.
I spent most of my weekend seeking & reinstall Windows & MP, trying to “solve†my issue with this.

It seems like when you are not running into problem no one else is either, but that’s fine. Please post your fully system setup, include settings for MP& WinXp or Bios, maybe we can learn of it & fix our problems without interfere the devs in this S3 trouble.

    Regards
    Roy

As infinityloop mentioned before, we did a lot of tests with different cards, to find out wether it's a driver problem or not.
Therefore we did some test with other HTPC Apps like My Theatre or MCE 2005. We used every time the same hardware with the same driver. The results were, that the tested cards are working e.g. under MCE 2005 after resuming from standby or hibernate, but not with MediaPortal. Regardless using hibernate or standby with MediaPortal, TV stays black.
So it's not a question of hibernate or standby.

have a look at you MediaPortal.log if you find any VMR7 stuff.

yes doesnt matter how you kick the PC into hibernate.

could you try PVR-Scheduler? would be interesting to know if the issue does not appear then.

guys, don't know if anybody mentioned it yet, so here is my prob (i think it's related to topic):

i set with powerscheduler plugin to go into 'sleep' (standby) mode after 10mins of inactivity in top menu. nothing is running, mytv is off...
when i resume htpc mp gui is blocked in top menu, doesn't respond to any remote or kbd/mouse action. but i can hear regular mp sound when i'm using remote (default sound when navigating mp gui). even recordings are done OK if they are set (mp wakes up from standby with no prob)...
the only command mp responds to is alt+F4 which closes mp, but it stays in process list so i have to kill it manually in task manager...
i'm expiriencing this prob since RC3 and right now i have two/three days old CVS installed ... there is other member in irc who has the same prob ... should't be too difficult to reproduce ... rc2 was working ok - never had such prob ...

    rgs,
    viliam

Yes this is all related to the suspend/hibernate issue.

got the same issue a few times during my tests.
