In order to play video in 1920x1200. The decoder must support hardware acceleration (DXVA). None of the
open source decoders does that. And if we talk about DVD playback none of the open source decoders handles menus properly. So, Ole now maybe you understand why I recommend a comercial. Perry's need to do the following if he want to use open source is 1) Lower the resolution and 2) Be without DVD menus. For most people 2) is not an option ;)

Don't you mean "If he wants to upscale to 19XX*12XX" ?
Otherwise I thought the graphics card took care of the rest (DVD displayed on 1080p screen)?
I don't remember having problems playing DVDs in MP on a friends HTPC running at 1920x1080 using MPV...

Please correct me if I'm truly wrong...

At least now I understand what you were getting at... though as Perry points out again and as I've tried pointing out: it used to work, but doesn't in RC3...

:)

Turning on OSD cpu load in ffdshow did not help :(
I had already tried the winDVD codecs, they give a blank screen and lock up MP.
Guess I'll start looking for an older build of MP.
Even tried lowering my resolution to 1280x800, MP still locks up. what a brick!

Did a quick test before work this morn. video playback was MUCH better when MP was NOT in
full screen mode. Will test some more tonight. But heck, who wants an HTPC in a window?

Going to bluetwo didnt help much.
Going to windowed mode helped a lot, still a bit jerky, but no crashes or lockups.
Soon as I go back to full screen though it gets horrible again.
