OK, i will do some tests to see why it sometimes works and sometimes not. I have some different servers up and running here at home and have some knowledge about networks :?

Let's see if i can get it to work. Will get back to you.

    Did as well some further testing and got a new error message:

    Code:

    This message is pretty false as there are 63GB free on the drive.

    What does your log say?
    Maybe we should move this to the bugs section ?

    OK tried it with a lot of different ways, but no problem at all???

    -What kind of OP are you guys running on the server and client (home/proffesional/linux/..)

    -Which filesystem is the network drive formatted

    -I assume there is no disk quota configured, if not sure please check.

    Let's beat this stupid "bug" 8)

    1) OS is Linux -> Fedora Core 5

    2) Drive is formated with ext3

    3) You mean in MP Configuration?
    If yes: You can't change the disk quota of the network folder within the configuration. So I selected another drive which has plenty of space left.

    1) Which samba version? What's the type of security check (user/domain/server/..) Maybe posting all settings to see if i can find any differences.

    2) Should be enough, xfs and jfs are better for large files, but ext3 will do.

    3) Yes, but also in the config at the server. The quota in mediaportal will only check the drive setup for recording anyway, the dropdown is more for showing the props i think.

    1) samba version is 3.0.22-1,
    here are the relevant parts of my config:

    Code:
    [global]
    	workgroup = netzwerk
    	server string = server

    	security = user

    	encrypt passwords = yes

    	hosts allow = 192.168.0. 127
    	hosts deny = 192.168.0.5

    	log file = /etc/samba/smb.log
    	max log size = 1000

    	unix charset = UTF-8
    	display charset = UTF-8
    	dos charset = 850

    	username map = /etc/samba/smbusers

    	local master = yes
    	domain master = yes
    	preferred master = yes
    	wins support = yes
    	dns proxy = no

    	max xmit = 65536
    	read raw = yes
    	write raw = yes
    	dead time = 15
    	getwd cache = yes

    [aufnahmen.u]

    	path = /data/aufnahmen.f
    	valid users = flo
    	guest ok = no
    	writeable = yes

    3) where can I check this?
    edit: had a look and disk quotas aren't set

    I'm wondering if it is really a server(configuration) problem as
    I am able to record (and watch the films afterwards) with DVBViewer.

    So far thx for your help,
    Flo

    I think it is a server problem as that is the only variable within our different setups. Mediaportal is the same, so thats not the problem.

    Anyway i don't know how mediaportal is connecting to the drive (as user, as computer, or maybe else)

    Did you try to open the share for anybody including guest accounts by using the follwing settings only?
    Code:
    [aufnahmen.u]

       path = /data/aufnahmen.f
       writeable = yes

    You can also try to uncomment the TCP/IP performance settings (the following block of settings)
    Code:
    max xmit = 65536
       read raw = yes
       write raw = yes
       dead time = 15
       getwd cache = yes

    Maybe that can be of a difference.

    Meanwhile i will get the source of mediaportal to figure out how it connects to the drive

    OK I'm using Windows server 2003 standard. The mediapc is with windows professional. The drives are formated with NTFS and are shared over DFS. I tried to share a folder on several pcs apart form the server with no luck. I always get the error "Unable to start Timeshifting, Unable to add StreamBufferSink filter" sorry right now I can't post the actual log because I'm changing some hardware and the pc is disasembled, but I'll do it tomorrow.

    Thanx alot for the help

    Tried your two suggestions,
    without any luck :(

    Still getting error messages:

    Code:
    25.05.2006 23:14:13 StreamBufferPlayer9:Failed to open file:H:\card1\live.tv :0x80070005
    25.05.2006 23:14:13 StreamBufferPlayer:GetInterfaces() failed

    Samba log lists no errors.

    Mfg
    Flo

    edit:

    did some further testing:

    *MP is now indeed recording, I can watch the recorded stuff as well
    *still getting the above mentioned error message
    *Timeshift seems to be the problem as I'm getting the above mentioned error message when I activate Ts.

    edit2:
    Now I understand why I can record (and use ts) with dvbviewer as
    you can set up one folder for ts files (I chose a local one) und one for recordings. With MP you don't have this option -> ts files are saved in the recordings folder.
    Thi should be the actual problem.
