Unfortunately it seems that is already set to

<entry name="sortasc">yes</entry>

If I set it to

<entry name="sortasc">no</entry>

it doesn't impact the behaviour in any way.

Do you have any suggestions?

That's weird, since changing sortasc from 'yes' to 'no' changes the sortorder here.
Did you clear the cache folder after changing the XML setting?
C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Cache
Delete the Titan folder in there.

I have deleted the Titan folder from C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Cache
Unfortunately this hasn't changed the behaviour either.

Having now spent more time troubleshooting, the exact behaviour is as follows.
Enter recorded tv folder.
Recordings are listed descending.
Click the invert sort arrow ^
Recordings are now sorted descending.
Click it again to sort ascending as desired.

This seems to indicate that it thinks it's sorted ascending..

Well, since none of us can reproduce your issue, i suggest you report this in the Titan forum.
Maybe someone has run into the same problem before, or the skinners might know a solution.
There isn't much we can do if we can't reproduce the problem.

I just bit the bullet and reinstalled MP from scratch.

My sorting issue is now gone.
