When trying to record yesterday it stopped writing to file after about 38 minutes and I have the following error in tswriter.log:

21-10-2007 22:48:39 Recorder:unable to write file:'D:\multimedia\Inspelat\The beach-TV6\The beach-2007-10-21-22_00.ts' 112 255868 b74

Can it be as simple as disk space problem (I had about 4.7 GB free hd space) or something else that went wrong (maybe the numbers after filename can give an explanation)?

I had two recordings running at that time and got same error on both files.

I don't have the latest SVN installed for MP (only RC3) but that should not affect the recording anyway, right?

Hi bermag,

I've experienced a very similar problem as you've described. I tried to record Millers Crossing tonight but after about 34 mins the recording stopped without any obvious errors.

I've got plenty of disc space and according the TV3E Config console the recording was still running but the file was never updated after this.

I lost the log files so I can not check for the error you reported but will do next time I get this error. I was away on holiday for a week and when I came back many of the scheduled recordings were truncated in a similar way, not the shorter recordings though...

Have you got any additional inputs or ideas since your posting?

BTW. I've had this problem with RC3 and the SVN from today, as well as with RC2 and the SVN from Sept 15th.

Petsa,

I looked in your tswriter.log and there is one thing that is different comparing to what happened to me. I got the error message above repeated several times but your log file looks like everything worked and no errors.

Hmm, notice we are both using Terratec 2400i. I wonder if it is has to do with the card. Do you lnow which card was used for recording?

Aslo, when you had your proböems did you record only one program or two? When I got this problem I were running two recordings (both stopped), however I do think I had this problem before when only recording one show. But when that happened I thought I had made some error recording or the program lasted longer than my recording settings.

I only recorded one show at the time. I'm wondering if this has to do with the heartbeat function... It used to work a while back with my Terratec 2400i.

Don't think it has to do with heartbeats. Recording is done on the tv server side so it shouldn't matter if clients get disconnected because of missed heartbeats.

I have done a couple of new test recordings and those did work.

I agree with you. The problem persisted also without running MP. Any update on your issues?

I've tested with several recent SVNs with no luck. Then I remembered this used to work with an older SVN so I went back to SVN from Sept 14th and now it works! Have done multiple recordings today without any problem.

I emailed Tourettes to see if I can get access to a version of tswriter that does some more logging to see if I can track down the problem.

Hi bermag,

Yesterday I installed TV3E 16445 where Tourettes made some fixes for "PCRs" whatever that is... It seems tohave cured my issue.

I went through a long list of recordings and the pattern was fairly consistent. It was recordings for TV4 and TV6, which are on the same mux. No recordings from SVT failed. Was it the same for you?
