Its possible in mp to watch or record all the channels on the same multiplex simultaneously with one tuner. Just Google to see how the channels are grouped into multiplexes in the UK. The SD channel you tried to tune into will have been on a different multiplex to the one you were recording which is why it failed. Not sure why the HD worked unless the tuner somehow allows it.
