AW: Re: AW: Re: Recording not stopping

Also, there are errors that comskip is not launching even though I have disabled the plugin.
Might be a silly question, but did you restart the TVServer service after disabling Comskip?

good point. maybe not such a silly question ;) I think I did a whole restart of the system, but not 100% sure, so I will do that now and see if this changes anything.

EDIT: Yep looks like I forgot the restart. Comskip now properly disabled and definitely not operating as evidenced by no comskip files being created. So based on that can't rule it out as not part of the problem yet.

Just by way of an update (because I saw the mantis bug update). I have had comskip disabled since I last posted here over 4 weeks ago, and I have not had a re-occurrence of a recording not stopping. So I think the comskip launching problem on XP may be the culprit.

FWIW, I've had recordings fail to end a couple of times and I'm not using comskip. I can't be any more help I'm afraid - unless it's still in the logs somewhere...

Might be a different issue, but just thought I'd mention it. If I can find the relevant log (or even remember exactly when the problem recordings were!) I'll post them.

    Hi guys,

Not sure if its relevant or related, but I just experienced a scheduled recording not stopping.

    I run comskip too

    Can't explain... Any ideas?

    Regards

    Arne

EDIT: Comskip log (22MB for the record, which won't stop) says nearly every third frame: "Audio PTS jumped 1 frames at frame x, repairing timeline" The other recording on this channel, which stopped correctly, had this message only about 10 times in the whole log, not every third frame. I wonder if it is a comskip issue or if the stream from tv-server is corrupt when record won't stop, that comskip only log these issues.

Just to note I do not believe this has anything to do with comskip at all, there is a chance it is but please do not get hung up with this being a comskip related issue

You're right, but maybe the results from comskip logs are a clue to the proper issue

This problem typically boils down to a subchannel leak.

meaning the tvservice loses track of subchannels.
eg. real sbchannels count is 0, but it "thinks" its still at 1.

those leaks can happen in numerous ways.

currently tvservice is not threadsafe when it comes to concurrent start of timeshifting/recording.
Ive seen this cause the same problems.

Also, current svn, has a few fixes for better subchannels handling.
there was a fix for this for the "skystar2 wdm driver". look in mantis.

I dont think its comskip either.
