i have just tested it here and MediaPortal has no problem with enabled timeshift and set recording folder to networkshare.

so there are only two possible reasons for your problem:
    1. wrong configuration of your server
    2. windows is not able to correctly connect the networkshare

    you can test that easiely.
    1. start your PC
    2. open the explorer
    3. select desktop (arbeitsplatz)
    4. have a look at the right field for the state of the networkshares (netzlaufwerke)
    5. if they are shown as connected everything is fine (verbundenes netzlaufwerk)
    6. if the show up as not connected (nicht verbundenes netzlaufwerk) we have found the problem
      View attachment 488
if this is the case i have a simple workaround for you to fix the problem.

The folder is shown correctly "im Arbeitsplatz". ;)

I don't think it's a network problem as I'm able to record and save timeshift files
to exactly that folder with dvbviewer.

So far thx for your help,
    Flo

i have been talking with the developers about it.
and they think too that the only possible reason why MediaPortal can not write the timeshift-buffer files to the networkshare is because the streambufferengine is running under system and not under your user. so this is related to the security/policy settings on the server.

i have tested it here in a workgroup enviroment:
    x WindowsServer2003
    x HTPC1: floppydtv winxp prof SP2

and it works without any issues. recordings were saved and timeshiftbuffer files were created.

one last possible problem. how long have you set the time for the timeshiftbuffer in setup and how much free space is availabe on the share?

Ok, so should I add a user SYSTEM to my smbusers?

edit: added user SYSTEM without success

Ts buffer is set to 30min, network folder has 60gb of free space and
    no disq quotas are set.

system is not a user, its the PC/Windows you are running.

i am not sure how you can give the "system" write access on the share

but it should work if you give everyone write access.

    i would:
    1. remove the share on the server
    2. create the share again (Freigabe und Sicherheit -> diesen Ordner freigeben)
    3. enter the name of the share
    4. Berechtigungen -> Jeder -> Vollzugriff -> Zulassen
    5. Sicherheit -> hinzufügen -> Jeder -> Vollzugriff -> Zulassen
    6. domain/Benutzer ->Vollzugriff -> Zulassen

If its still not working it could be caused by the Windows Domain/Security/Client Policies. and i can help you with that, sorry.

    Hi,
You can try to use the same Windows Login name & password on both computers & both have admin rights.
In shared (advanced network options have to be used in windows) add the Login name with all rights & give it a try, other than that & dunno

The safest way it's to use short folder names without space like this: MP_TV.

    Regards
    Roy

Sounds like windows server settings, but I'm using Linux on the server ;)
Besides the folder has every possible right.

    1. see above, htpc and server login name und password are the same.
    2. already tried naming the folder simply "test"

Does anybody know what the function "getInterfaces()" does ?

My next step will be to delete and reinstall samba,
    will see if it helps.

Mfg and :D for your help,
    Flo

    Don't mind,
I'm just a bit confused cause dvbviewer records flawlessly,
mp as well except those ts-files.
Anyway I hope finding the solution is just a matter of time,
I'll update the thread if I succeed.

test it with 2 minutes please

Set buffer to 2 min. without success,
tried as well with 0 min.

    Mfg
    Flo
