summary

SVN version of MP:
* NON scambled channels seems ok, when changing freq of tv channel with a offset of 125.

* Scrambled channels: Channel5 is impossible to record( this and more but tested mostly on this channel). Sometimes it records 10 minutes, somtimes 15-25 min. No visible errors in log file. Watching TV is fine but didn't try timeshift. I "think" the picture becomes black and MP does record but the size of the file does not get bigger since nothing is recorded. Possibly the ci/cam get fuck* up!

June release of MP
* ALL Ok when setting freq correct with a offset of 125

Clearly it must be Twinham Cam issue for me, at least I think so but who knows. I am just worried that the tv engine 3 will have the same issue and then I'm stuck on June release....

And no, it is not a signal issue. got 98% strength and 90% quality

Problem: Recording isn't complete or when using timeshift the screen goes black and have to disable/enable tv again to get screen back.

When it happens: When doing a recording or when just watching with timeshift enabled.

When it doesn't happen: Just watching TV without timeshift

I'm using mediaportal version 0.2.0.4, did try using another firmware release of fireDTV, didn't help.

It occurs on at least two different channels and those aren't encrypted. Both are on a different transponder so I guess it isn't channel related.

    Log attached look for:

    DVBGraph: Unlocked... wait for tunerlock

I'm getting the impression that when I remove my Alphacrypt cam that it works without any issues, using Alphacrypt 3.05, does anybody have clue why it happens, it also happen on NOT encrypted channels, pretty strange huh?

But this doesn't explain why lar282 has it because he has different hardware....

    EDIT:

    I have spoken too soon.

It also happens when the AlphaCrypt CAM is not inserted.

So it is not CAM related

why is this problem being ignored, I have read several posts on this forum with problems that are very similar, I even read a few logs showing the same error but other symptons...

I also asked for help on the fireDTV forum and we have to conclude that the problem is mediaportal.

    ocram,

Are you absolutely sure that this problem is not related to the TV signal strength?

I am puzzled by this statement of yours in an earlier post:-

"It occurs on at least two different channels and those aren't encrypted. Both are on a different transponder so I guess it isn't channel related."

Does that mean that the problem only occurs on those 2 channels and not on any other channels?

Does the problem always occur on those 2 channels?

"Problem: Recording isn't complete or when using timeshift the screen goes black and have to disable/enable tv again to get screen back."

Is the length of the recording always about the same (i.e., does the problem always occur "x" minutes into the recording)?

When during timeshift does the problem occur - immediately, or after watching for a while? How long after you start timeshifting does the problem occur? If you "disable/enable tv again to get screen back", how long before the problem will occur again?

I can't speak for ocram but I think I narrowed down my problem to the ci or cam. When MP does not get any video(can't decrypt), it stops recording(cause its only black screen, and this can happen anywhere in the show. I think the problem could be solved for me if MP somehow resets the cam and tries to decrypt once more, but I do not think it does that. I think it tries once and just goes with the flow. I'm gonna look in the code and see if I can find a way to test to reset the cam if tuner is unlocked and then see what happens.

It happens on all the channels, I was just saying those 2 for sure because I record all the time from those 2.

I can't put a timestamp on it, because its random, sometimes 5min, somitemes 1,5hour.

When looking at the log you get this situation...:

    1-Recording
    2-DVBGraph: Unlocked
3-Still Recording, but the recorded file is not getting bigger. MP is trying to get a lock but doesn't get a lock.
    4-Recording Stops
5-New recording starts(tuner also is getting locked)
6-After some time the problem happens again or it doesn't(random)

    ocram,

You still haven't answered this query:-

"Are you absolutely sure that this problem is not related to the TV signal strength?"

The behaviour that you are describing sounds very much like the TV signal strength is marginal and it randomly drops below the level required to lock the tuner - is that possible with your setup?

Have you verified that you get perfect, uninterrupted reception with another TV application?

even if he had 70-80 % why wouldn't MP kick in again.its a free channel. but now from his logs it seems like he does have good reception
