On a multiple Client <> Server setup, when configuring the Recording Path and TimeShifting Path in TV-Server Config, should you use the local drive letter on the Server or the full UNC path?

    i.e.

On my server D:\RECORDINGS is for recorded TV and D:\TIMESHIFT is for Timeshifting.

The are also shared on the network as:

    \\MP\RECORDINGS and \\MP\TIMESHIFT.

On the Server, which path should I use?

    Hi gtfreymann,

I believe the local path on the server should be fine, given that it's just telling the TV-Server where to save those files .... and also, when the clients request to watch any of those recorded TV files, they're not accessing those files directly, they're getting them streamed from the TV-Server. So, if the directories are actually local drives on the TV-Server machine, it would make sense to use the local path. Others may have an opinion on whether it actually makes any difference ... ie. is there a performance hit accessing files, that are on a local drive, via their network path?

    Cheers,
    Craig
