    Hi guys,

I have a strange behavior using 1.2β: sometimes when a recording is being executed, the recordingicon flashes and afterwards the recording disappears completely - from the list & disk. Even a deep scan with recuva doesn't find anything whereas normally this can undelete files.
I'm under the impression that it has something to do with using a second client at that time - also on 1.2β.

Any clue what might cause this?

    TIA
    P

EDIT: this doesn't happen all the time

Ok, nothing to do with second client: this also happens on the main system.
If I want to watch Live TV, I often get a "No video/audio detected" message on multiple channels.
Restarting the server solves it for some time but it's not clear when/why it goes wrong.

On a client, the same thing happens, restarting the server solves it.

Any help would be appreciated, a lot of recordings are not being executed... :(

    Hi Peter

I would hope that you should know the support forum rules by now.

Without logs it is IMPOSSIBLE for us to help you!

Please use the watchdog on the single seat system to grab all your logs (option 3). Instructions and information about the watchdog are here - it really couldn't be any easier, so there is no excuse. ;)

    Hi mm1352000, you're right.

    Here they are...

Thanks for looking into it! ;-)

EDIT: forgot to mention, the recordings did not disappear but just didn't start. In some cases, there was a file but it could not be played.

    Hi again Peter

    Thanks for the logs. :)
Based on the logs, I suspect that what is happening is that the record icon comes on when TV Server attempts to start recording, but then turns off when the recording fails to start. If the recording fails to start then you wouldn't be able to undelete anything because there'd be nothing available to undelete.

Has this behaviour only really started with 1.2.0b or 1.2.0a? If so, then I would highly recommend using stop mode instead of pause mode. See -->here<-- for more information and -->here<-- for how to change mode (when card enters idle state do the following...).

Yes, the icon was flashing on/off all the time - when recording goes wrong - and yes, this started with 1.2 Beta.
Before, I was a happy 1.1.2 user with very few issues and a very reliable VCR but lately, it seemed like scheduling a recording was like playing the lottery. :)

I've changed the setting and it seems to have solved the problem for now but I will get back on this in a few days.
Is there anything that can/should be done to avoid this behavior for the future/final 1.2 release?

Thanks a lot for solving this!!!

One thing that could help to solve it is that you would tell us what setting you did change :)

Like mm1352000 suggested, I switched the tv card from pausing to stop.
Now I can switch channels again when running live tv.

The setting is something we added in 1.2.0a as an experiment. It improves the channel switching and/or TV startup time for some tuners, but it doesn't work for other tuners (like yours). We set the default as "pause" in 1.2.0a and 1.2.0b to help us get an idea of how many tuners wouldn't work with the setting, but we'll be setting the default for 1.2.0 final as "stop". That means you don't have to do anything to avoid the problem for future releases. :)

Isn't there a way to detect the card and based on that let the installation process decide to turn this feature on or off?
Of course it all depends on the proportion of users that might encounter this issue.

I find it a good thing that you guys try to improve MP in any way and yes, I was a bit unlucky in this situation but let's blame it on the fact that I was using software that's in a Beta stage.

By asking what I could do, I wasn't referring to myself but as a contribution to improve things.
