    Is there a way to recover Recorded TV programs that (somehow) Media Portal lost track of? They are still in the folders but during testing the current SVN they were inadvertently removed from the database, but not deleted. Some of them were unwatched, and I'd like to keep them.

    Is there some utility to get them back into the TV database (or convert them to some other form I can watch)?

    Thanks

    Chuck

    You could add the folder where they are located to My Videos. You will then be able to watch them.

    If you are using TV3 there is a function to import TV recordings into the database.

    I'll give this a shot shortly,

    my question is how is this info removed from the database if I've only rescanned my sat ?

    the movies are still in the recorded folder, yet going to recorded tv screen.. it's blank. This doesn't seem by design.

    Thanks for the suggestion on MyVideos.

    ... with TV Server, on the other hand, The files in the folders are not listed in Recordings Import (not working correctly?).

    I'm backing up the recorded files and will try to get them into MyVideos... I didn't want to use my Recorded TV folders. It's the ugly way of doing it though, but they will be safe.

    I can confirm with this, my recorded files are not there but I did have a recorded file from way back and forgotten about this, and yet it was in the list to get imported

    note: my svn is a few weeks old tho

    setuptv.exe has somewhere an import tab... sorry, cannot remember where excatly, but it will be able to import all recordings if you have the .xml files.

    I found the same thing. If the files are in the root of a directory then they will not appear. You need to move them to a folder off the root then they will appear.

    EG:
    D:\ ->wont appear
    D:\recordings\ -> will appear.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks, but it is not the case in this instance. My folders are set up:

    E:\RecordedTV\Analog\
    E:\RecordedTV\Card1\
    E:\RecordedTV\Card2\

    All the .ts files have .xmls in the folders, but they do not show up in the list to import in TV-Server config (setuptv.exe).

    At least I can view them now in My Videos/Shares.

    If you have moved your recording folder, ie originally at C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\recordings, and this had recordings in it, which you copy all the files to say D:\Recordings, Stop and restart TVServer (i do this from services rather than config), then delete them first in TVServer config\Recording settings\database import (nothing shows, buts says do you wish to remove blah blah blah from database), keep choosing yes until they all have been removed, then try importing newly shown files, this may require you to close and reopen TVServer config, before the files are shown.

    My Recorded TV folders have always been at the locations listed above. It is a dedicated drive just for recorded TV. Timeshifting is recorded on another drive.

    this was the first time my recorded TV programs just disappeared.

    What do you mean " from services rather than config"?

    :confused:
