Stubby,

thanx for the tip. I was already using RW key factory and was not aware of keymaster. I will give it a try later on.
Thanx again.

You also have this plugin for your remote:
http://www.youngtech.net/software/ati/

And read more in the wiki
http://www.maisenbachers.de/dokuw/howto:remote_control?s=remote+wonder#ati_remote_wonder_i_and_ii

Yeah I was aware of that plugin, but that one doesn't allow you to change the behaviour of the "reserved" buttons (ie TV, Webbrowser etc) on the remote wonder. I couldn't even assign buttons to the channel buttons on the remote wonder. Therefor I switched to The key master.

Did you try the .2 version?

Yup, tried it, change the ini file a couple of times, and updated the config in the remote wonder utility. Unfortunately the most important buttons still weren't available to me.

But let's quit this off topic talk and get back to what this topic is really about: The 0.2 beta release!

Usability

If this is already possible I apologize.
Make channels load from the tv guide if on the current time, much like the guides in satelite tuners, media center, etc.

Add Visible TV Channel List

I suggest to add a visible TV Channel List so that the channel to be selected can be picked from a complete list of already found channels ramdomly and easily. The current mechanism of cycling through all tuned-to channels by pressing a right and left arrow is difficult and inefficient.

Add Full Screen Mode without window edges/task-bar etc

It will be nice to add a true "full screen mode"(such as pressing "f" key or so) to make MP video display fully occupy the PC screen, without any of these window edges, task bars, etc, so that MP displays TV in real TV mode(all other PVR have such a mode, MediaPlayer too)

Try playing with "x" and "s" on your keyboard!

    Frodo..still listening?...:)

Just a couple of thing from me. I think the way mce uses services for some functiionality is actually quite handful (browsed trough this post and didn't seem to find the below already mentioned).

1st remote control. It should be a service running in the background that gets started with windows. So if you have MP closed and want to turn it on you can just do it sitting on the couch. Once MP is started the service would just comunicate with the MP app (not a programmer but I'm sure you would know how wm_command I guess). I think there are already dirty ways plugins to do this but the above solution would be neater and makes more sense.

2nd recording. Recording should start even if MP is not running, so again service should be taking care of that. This should also improve performance taking advantage of multitasking and/or Intel HT technology and free up the MP exe from the recording task; the obvious recording icon in the task bar would be good (yeas sorry feature request).

3rd think we should identify what are Advanced settings that should go only in the separate configuration.exe and what are every day settings (like adding folders, changing skins...and well the ret needs to be identified) that should be accessible from the couch. (probably already mentioned) but how about actually setting up the list and then use voting buttons on a post and let people decide where the feature should go. Integrated or separate. Yes Frodo you will have the right of veto :)

    that's it for now
