    Hello everybody,

is there someone who is using the same Pinnacle card with the belonging remote control ?

    http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/pinnacle_systems/RC-42D.jpg

Can I also use the belonging IR which plugs into the Pinnacle TV-card ?

If so please give me a hint how to make it work.
I've read the WINLIRC setup information... I'm still hesitating...

    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,

    Ralph

I'm using the pinnacle dual dvb-t card and the remotes might be similar.

Have a look in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Pinnacle\Remoterm\Profiles\profiles.ini and use the attached doc to figure out how to customise what each button does.

AW: REMOTE for PCTV Dual Sat Pro PCI (4000i)

    Thanks jimbolina,

seems like I definitely need to have PCTV installed ? (I tried to avoid this installation.) Otherwise it won't work ? I have no clue where else to place the profiles. ini otherwise-right?

In MP I need to choose Keyboard control-right ?

    Thanks a lot so far.

    :D

    Best regards,

Yes you need to install the pctv software so because it installs remoterm.exe. This is the program for the remote. You can probably delete the PCTV software afterwards, but I just leave it alone.

In MP setup, go to the remote section and tick use "Microsoft MCE remote or keyboard".

Also I don't have all of the MP keys mapped in that profile. Only the ones that I use. The section for mediaportal button assignments is "[Media-Center]" and it's right at the bottom of the file.

AW: REMOTE for PCTV Dual Sat Pro PCI (4000i)

    Thanks jimbolina,

I've installed TVCenter 6.3.0.584 f0r PCTV Dual Sat Pro PCI (4000i). There I find in folder:

C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\PCTV Systems\RemoTerm, but there is no profiles.ini here nor at the rest of my hard drive.
Also no icon for a running remote software at the bottom of the screen is visible-I think there was something in older versions...

Do I have to use an older PCTV software version ?

Anything else seems to be clear.

    Thanks.
    Best regards,
    Ralph

I'm not sure about newer versions. I'm just using the version that came with my card which was 4.91. I've uploaded this to my server so you can download it, but I don't know if this program is multilingual. http://qldhosting.com/admin/setup.zip (91.5MB)

All the usual disclaimers apply. I've scanned this file with AVG, but you shouldn't take my word for it, scan the file yourself before running it on your machine. I don't work for pinnacle and I can't support this software. Use it at your own risk.

I will be removing this file from my server in a few days time.

I can't see why they wouldn't include the remote package with the newer software though. In your start menu, do you see programs - pinnacle tv centre pro - tools - remote? If not, can you find C:\Program Files\Pinnacle\Shared Files\Programs\Remote\remoterm.exe?

If you are serching for profiles.ini in windows, you need to make sure that hidden files and folders are also scanned as the documents and settings folder is hidden by default. Have a look here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/hiddenfiles.mspx and here HOW TO: Search For Hidden Or System Files In Windows XP

    Thanks jimbolina,

I didn't know that the files are hidden.
    I did find:
    profiles.ini here:
    C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\PCTV Systems\RemoTerm\Profiles
    and remoterm.exe here:
    C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\PCTV Systems\RemoTerm

I placed a link at the desktop to start remoterm.exe manually.

I definetely got remote type A but the following code works, Media Portal starts:

; start TVC with Remote Type B
    key1002=EXEC C:\Programme\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.exe

The manual says that this would be Key2 at remote A.
I was assuming that I must use the assignments of remote type B like 100X and so on, but no reaction.

The ini file contains all types of remote code, how does it know which one to use ?
Do I have to do more changes to the file ?

    :D

    Best regards

Did you change the HWID to match your card? You should see a line in the profile that says HWID=16. You need to change that to HWID=17 for your card.

    For:
; start TVC with Remote Type B
    key1002=EXEC C:\Programme\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.exe

I think this might be a problem with long file names like "team mediaportal". This profile seems to use the old dos format like "teamme~1". I think this should work as long as it in up in the top section of the file and as long as you use the old dos short file names. You are right that the keys are padded out to 4 characters with a "1" at the start (e.g key "2" is 1002, key "13" is 1013).

    Thanks a lot Jimbolina,

HWID=17 is set. In Media Portal I ticked the box for MCE-Remote/ Keyboard. IT WORKS !!!!!!!

Now, here is my profiles.ini for MediaPortal with PCTV-Remote Type B (only a few assignments are not correct).:

    [title -]
    MediaPortal -=MediaPortal

    [default]

There must be a table somewhere documenting all the keyboard shortcut. This might close the small gap (key1037, 1039, 1040, 1041, 1042 and 1045. Any hint would be welcome.

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH INDEED.
