...and you want to have MediaPortal client(s) communicating with a server on a different subnet?I have a routed network with multiple subnets, broadcast isn't routed.
Speaking for TV Server only: at present there is no plan to require SSDP or UPnP. SSDP/UPnP is only necessary for CableCARD and SAT>IP tuner support.So will there be a solution to get it running without SSDP or should I look into a Mediaportal replacement?
I'd be interested to know why you think UPnP and SSDP are broken by design. My own opinion is that all protocols, formats etc. have targets and limitations, and that UPnP and SSDP work very well for their target (home networks where zero/low config is highly desirable). Obviously your network configuration is more complex and outside the target for the protocols you mentioned...The fact that Mediaportal didn't depend on protocols as UPnP/SSDP DLNA and other broken by design protocols was a BIG plus, I'm very sad to read that it's leaving that path...
