I believe I have landed in what people call "CoDec Hell".

No matter what I select as decoder in MP, it keeps using ffdshow (shift 1 tells me).
I tried SAF6 and 5. Although Filmerit tells me 0 errors, it stutters heavilly

What I was wondering, is it possible to set all codecs to a default again, like in a virgin w7 system? To get out of this hell.. :)

    AW: Reset codecs

You can just disable the formats in ffdshow codec config.
    See:
    t03_06_ffdshow_video.png

e.g. if you don't wanna use ffdshow for HD (h.264/AVC) just set Decoder to disabled and ffdshow won't be used for that. =)

That mean that ffdshow have a higher merit and it take the place or maybe it was because codec was set in post processing :)
Otherwise you can try like holzi show you and also setting was write in mediaportal.xml (you can backup it) and try to change xml to delete the list of codec.
    :)

Hi all, thank you for your replies :) apreciated much!

@ sebastiii: Does it mean whenever and whatever we set in MP config, it doesnt HAVE to be the actual used due to other merrits?

Holzi; Thanks for the suggestion. ATM I Re-installed SAF and set everyting to LAV. (including dxva from doom9) It seems this works as I see only LAV in the shift 1 screen. I will try your suggestion later today.
Now, the main problem remains. I have a judder which isnt supposed to be there. Its only there if subtitles are also displayed. This was never the case.
MPC-subtitle is selected to handle the subtitles.
What I see is the measured fps of the media is fluctuating heavily. Mostly 23.97~ but sometimes it droppes to 10-20fps.
This is what the mediafile tells: I think its a standard avi no dynamic stuff....

    Hi :)

Please post your log to try to see what happen :)
MP take in priority filter set from configuration.exe but if connection failed between filter, filter with high merit take the place and if you have set ffdshow in post procress filter, it can take priority over the other.
    Seb.

    Hi,

I created a log. (using the plugin enabled debug mode)

I have a fear though, the source of my problem lies with the avi files them selves. they are just ~195mb. Poor quality.
What kind of info would you require to tell me this?

My system specs are up to date.

    Hi,

It seems that you are using my VC1 build and from the log LAV codec suite (splitter / Video/ audio) are added in graph and correctly remove and it was ffdshow as codec ?
Yes if you can do some screenshot to from MP and one from graphstudio to see the complete graph.
    Thanks :)

    Done :) See post above

But I managed with your build to get the 'always ffdshow' situaion resolved.
But I hoped ofcourse the stuttering of the image I see was because of it.
Even with LAV 100%, it stutters...

    What the hell lol
Not really funny but the graph looks good but the stat is really not good.

If you add the video clip onto graphstudionext, how does it play ?
Maybe it's related to ATI drivers ? it's really weird, you can try also DPC latency soft (i didn't have the link right now) but with it and old ATI drivers we can see that we need to overclock or don't remember exactly but need to do something to avoid such graph, normally recent driver fix this issue.
    When happen the issue ?
Also could you try attached codec ? just replace existing one and give a try to DXVA2 options in LAV Video.
Does it happen with all video ?
    Thanks.

    Stop laughing... ;) Ghehehe

I think it began ~1.5 weeks ago.
I was messing with saf 6 back to saf 5 again and THEN I bumped into your thread.. :) the WIP area 51 and combined it all with the lav + dxva option set :) ghehee..

I tried ATI 11.12-11.9-11.7-11.4 same results.. Now I am using 11.7 which previously gave me very good results. Should I try the latest again?

It does NOT happen in all video's. This one is extreme. But the entire season 2 of fringe shows this effect more or less... This file just doesnt stop.

    [edit]
I tried your lav files and set it to dxva2. no luck. exactly the same results.

Here are the dpc latency results as well.. see attachment
