Hi

I'm running MP 1.7.1

A recent change to the UK Freeview channels has left me with duplicate entries for some channels, with the exception of the one that actually prompted the re-tune I can't tell which of the duplicates is the right one, so I want to reset everything a do a clean tune.

So the question is how do I do this? The re-tune button seems to default to adding new channels which is how I got in this mess, what I'm looking for is something equivalent to a factory reset!

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I have not actually retuned my MP system yet, as I want to take a system image first (just in case I mess it up!). But the following actions might do what you want:

    (1) In "TV Server Config", click "TV Channels" in the left side bar.

    (2) In the list of channels, click the first one in the list (it should become highlighted).

    (3) Scroll to the bottom of the list of channels.

    (4) Press and hold the SHIFT key, whilst clicking the last channel in the list. All channels in the list should now be highlighted.

    (5) Click the "Delete" button.

    (6) Repeat steps (1) to (5) for the radio channels.

Now let me just repeat: I have not actually tried this yet, so I don't know whether it will do what you want. Also, for future reference, the following post (and the subsequent one from mm) might be helpful:

    Thanks for you reply.

Gave it a go and it reset everything OK.

A couple of points to add though.

    - You need to delete the radio stations as well, I had duplicates there as well.
    - All scheduled programmes will be deleted so you will need to set them up again.
    - It takes a while for the EPG to be downloaded so allow plenty of time.

If you tick 'detect channel movement' when tuning next it should avoid duplicate entries being added.

I did and it didn't. The change was a weird one as none of the channels changed numbers or mux, in fact only one channel should have been affected but I ended up with duplicates for all of the channels on the mux. For the one that should have been affected the "old" version was marked as closed on the EPG and the "new" one was broadcasting, but for all the others I had duplicate EPGs and they were all broadcasting.

I had a discussion about this with @mm1352000 in the thread referenced earlier, since I also was concerned about either creating duplicate channels, or losing the recording schedule. My understanding is that duplicate channels should not be created for channels which are unchanged. I note that you are using MP 1.7.1, so possibly the errant behaviour is behaviour that was changed in a recent release. Hopefully mm will be able to explain what happened. :)

I'm unable to explain due to missing information (scan logs, and an export of the channel list before the scan).

I've done re-tunes before to add channels before and there was a biggish change to Freeview not that long ago which resulted in a number of channels changing numbers, all of those worked as intended with channel movement selected.

As I said this was a really strange change as it only affected one channel on the MUX and all that was being changed was the header data, if you are interested it was a change of the broadcast regions for ITV1, it affected several transmitters in the South of England, I'm not even sure why my transmitter (Oxford) was even affected as we were getting Meridian before the change and we're getting Meridian after the change.

None of the other channels were affected by the change the only commonality is that they are on the same mux, no channel number changes, etc., so absolutely no reason why they were duplicated.

I still have the logs but obviously the channel information is gone if anybody is interested, I'm happy with the solution I followed. Sometimes software does strange things, it shouldn't but it does. Last week I had a problem on my Media Centre machine, trying to reset the display settings, tried the same procedure 7 times with no affect, 8th time it worked, did exactly the same each time, no rhyme or reason why none of the previous attempts worked, or why the last one did.
