I agree. I, for one, am not paying gazillions for Vista so i can use MediaPortal. I have switched to gbpvr for the moment which seems for or less equivalent to MP - both excellent programs, but gbpvr seems a bit more stable.
MP keeps crashing on me - last night I was just sitting there listening to some music when - boom - MP died and a few seconds later, Win xp died as well and the whole system shut down! Not sure if that was xp or MP but different things have happened recently only when I am using MP. For example, MP sometimes won't wake the computer and record films, or else it does record but doesn't shut down afterwards. Used to do both just fine. I haven't changed anything as far as I know. Otherwise, XP hasn't crashed on me for a couple of months now. Must be a record.
The only problem with gbpvr is that it won't change channels on my sky digibox when I use a pvr150mce card. it works brilliantly with the pvr150 but not the mce version. Now I find that the mce version of the pvr150 is not supported and i need to install and configure HIP and Hipsend blah blah. Maybe I should shell out for vista afterall. I just wish there was a decent bit of software for linux as the whole of the rest of my network is linux-based (don't even mention mythtv yugh). Then I could get rid of windows on all my machines and life would be bliss....
