Restoring backup (1 Viewer)

Hey,

I've made a fresh install of Windows and MP.

I just copied the database file and the thumbs folder back. Or anything else?

Every movie is there twice now.

It's the same OS (Windows 7) and the same movie folder!

What's wrong here?

Only you know, because only you have access to the log files.

So invite a developer over for coffee or a beer and they can have a look at them.

Or better yet attach the debug enabled log files to your next forum post, so that it is possible to examine the problem remotely.

It is not enough to say something isn't working without providing those, assuming you want an actual answer.

    Ok here we go.

It's the same folder. When playing the old database entry MP told me media not available. The new entry works.

    Restoring TVSeries worked perfect.

I set MediaPortal to debug and the option for the importer, too.

    Thanks.

Ok, you are using "Moving Pictures v0.7.5:681", which doesn't contain the nice new methods to keep better track on the same files via a hash-based system.

    The first lines:

    Code:
20-Feb-2010 13:09:26 Debug [ VolumeInfo]: Querying drive information for 'D:'
20-Feb-2010 13:09:26 Debug [ VolumeInfo]: Succesfully updated drive information for 'D:'

Clearly show that when you reinstalled something changed, new HDD-GUID from format, new volume label, etc. What you need to do is make a fresh new database importing a single new movie, then provide me with a copy of your old database and that small new version.

    Use: www.drop.io to do so.

I can then use the SQLite tools I have to fix your old database, so that it will work.

More then likely you installed a new harddisk, adjusted volume IDs, etc. This is improved in MovingPictures v1, but that doesn't help you anymore at this point (though it is a good reason to upgrade after you put everybody back).

Ah great. It's the version from the StreamedMP skin.

I'll update, when it's running. Thanks alot. :)

Yup, that was it, your old HDD volume serial was '08684ABF' and your new one is '22DD3D2B', which left MovingPictures thinking all the movies had to be deleted and then re-added.

So I ran a mass-SQL update on your old database, and uploaded it to: (snip)

That 'should' work for you now, but let me know, there might be a setting that I overlooked.

No sorry same problem. There's still another error. Do you need a new log file?

Figures, Murphy's law, drop.io is down for maintance and I didn't keep a copy of your stuff. So have to wait till they are back up, so if you happen to read this before they come back, attach the old dbase and the one where u imported a single movie as well as the log files with the as you put it "still another error" to a reply post. Use the 'Manage Attachments' button for this.
