Try running the MCE Standby tool and fiddling with it's options... Standby/Resume is always a pain in the butt for my PC, but with a bit of mucking about with the MCE Standby tool I can get it working... every pc is different I guess, so your results may vary.

Thank you for your reply, what you say makes a perfect sense to me (regarding IR device preparation).
If I am to install MCE remote with receiver, will it solve my headaches or a lot of fiddling still be required?

The MCE standby tool wasn't very succesful to me. The best I could achieve once was to get my PC to go into sleep mode and wake up from the remote. The only problem I had the PC would unexpectedly wake (in a middle of a night) for no reason. I had "Wake up on LAN" turned off, nevertherless it happened few times a night (I have my PC in my bedroom). MP logs were indicating that system wake up happened as per request. No requests or scheduled recordings whatsoever.
Since then I did some other changes, installed different SVNs (I use TvServer1 single seat) and cannot get back to the same setup, no matter what I do.

Unfortunately I can't make any promises about what will happen if you get an MCE IR device.

Some Mainboards just don't do the whole Suspend/Resume thing properly and will never work right. But my experience has been this:

If I install Windows XP Pro SP2, no updates, and then plug in my MCE receiver it will not do suspend/resume right ...

If I then install the MCe remote update it will come good, but sometimes I need to tweak the settings in MCE Standby tool.

But this is just my experience on my PCs. Both of my PCs (my development PC and my HTPC) are very similar (1 is an Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe mainboard and the other is an A7N8X-X mainboard) so that's probably got something to do with the consistency in my results.

I've just finished setting up a new development/testing pc, so it will be interesting to see how it behaves.

I can't remember if I've asked you this before (I find it hard to keep track of everyone :)) but where are you in Australia? If you're in Melbourne I could lend you an MCE IR receiver to try out?

    Cheers,
