Retrieve my rating from thetvdb (1 Viewer)

After a clean re-install, I was hoping get my watched/unwatched flag from my thetvdb account using my rating.

I tick the option "Mark episodes as watched if rated online".

I fill my account tvdb id.

But my rating (and so my watched status) are not retrieved on import.

It work on the other way, if I rate an episode from mediaportal, it update my rate on thetvdb website.

Where's my mistake ?

Maybe in Configuration->Online Data, you have the option "Automatically update user episode ratings in addition to series ratings" unchecked.

It's unchecked by default as it can add considerable more time for imports.

If you have a trakt.tv account and the Trakt plugin installed you can use that as a way to keep your ratings and watched flags synced instead. You can also do a one off import of all your existing episode/series ratings that are currently on thetvdb.com over to trakt using the TraktRater tool (useful if you don't have a local record in your current tvseries database for sync).

I've already checked this option, still not work completely.

In fact, It's strange because I've just seen that it work for some series (a little part), but not all.


May be I'll test with trakt.tv if I feel motivate for this new stuff...

thetvdb.com does not provide you your episode ratings via the API unless you also rate the series, that could be the problem you face. That's not an issue with trakt plugin if rating sync is enabled.

OK but in my opinion Mediaportal + TV series plugin + thetvdb account + trakt tv plugin and account + folw.it account : It's too much and not user friendly

It's up to you what you enable but you don't need all that enabled to get your episode ratings, just trakt.

Im not sure about you but I have found more and more people not using thetvdb.com for storing their ratings (number of votes is pretty low), of course you can optionally also use follw.it but the ratings are syncing with a 5 point scale so there is the potential of rounding issues.

I still send my ratings to thetvdb.com but I disabled syncing due to performance. I have trakt to sync back ALL my episode ratings and not just the ones where I have rated the series (minor issue I know), its also much faster than the tvdb.com sync as it doesnt need to query episode ratings for every series you own, instead it comes back all in a single request.

Anyway, glad you have it sorted now, you need to rate your series as well which kinda sux for series that just started but atleast you can re-rate later.
