What's the problem with spending a couple of hours into such a nice piece of software?

It's really not THAT complicated.. It's just nice in my opinion that so much is possible.. With all that options you can set Mediaportal to your hand..

But this is getting offtopic..

About your question, this is not possible yet for our default skins (default wide and Titan) as we are all waiting for the official homescreen editor(s). With other skins like avalon and streamedMP it is allready possible as they provide allready a homescreen editor!

Basically because I just don't have time to do it, and coming from Plex, where it's just so simple and automatic I think is the issue I have

Like the MYFilms plugin... super complicated and just way too over the top, but Dev recommended. Installed Moving Pictures due to Titan skin issues (I think) and it worked like a charm, with a one step process. That made me happy lol.

But having said all that, MP is just killing it for looks. I like the server dynamic with Plex, plus the ease of set up, mobile apps, blah blah blah... BUT im a shallow person and looks win SO im using Media Portal.

Thanks for your help and im sure its just a matter of getting used to it.

Are you using Titan?

Grab the Titan skin file in here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/index.php?threads/Titan---Unofficial-Skins-Collection.114994/ and put it in the Titan skin folder.
