Hey Hoborg,

Just downloaded and tested SAF 348.
While installing I got the following error (see attached screenshot).

And when I try to play Earth 2007 720p BluRay DTS x264-CtrlHD and others, I get horrible stuttering with sound and video.

Tried uninstalling and installing 348 a couple of times but I can't get it to work.

After uninstalling 348 and re-installing 347 it works like a charm again :)

Installed codecs:
- Haaii Mediasplitter
- SAF (MPA merit DO NOT USE)
- Spdif (merit preffered +1) Installed because of stuttering problem with DTS tracks when using the MPA codec
- WMP 11

348 audio and video problems

Hey Hoborg,

Same problem here. Video is in slow motion en sound is stuttering. Sometimes it even makes media portal freeze completely. After rolling back to 347 all is fine except the following planet earth release (see below). Video is fine but im losing sound in certain scenes. But when installing 348 both video and audio is stuttering.

Planet.Earth.S01E07.Great.Plains.1080p.HD-DVD.DD.VC1-TRB

Runtime: 51m 0s
Format: VC-1
Resolution: 1920x1080
Video: 20.3 Mbps
Audio: 448 Kbps AC-3 Dolby Digital 6-Channel English
Subtitles: None
Source: HD-DVD
Size: 52x150MB RARs (7.25GB unrared)

edit: the audio stuttering with 347 seems to be subtitle related. Tried playing without subtitles and all is fine now. still weird that with subs it stutters. cant be my cpu e8400 shouldnt have problems with decoding without dxva.

I have MediaPortal 1.0 with SAF 3.30 installed on Vista32

I have it in SPDIF mode to my AV in Mediaportal Config, using MPA Codec and MPV Codec with Cyberling as a h264 decoder.

When i play a mp3 file, there is no problem but i have tried several *.wav music files and i get noisy like a bad tunner. Also in Windows media Player i can not play those files.

With some movies i get bad sound with some DTS tracks with high bitrate. but normaly the alternative track in DD or DTS with less bitrates seems to be ok.

I can play that music files with the Imedian HD Player, so it must be because of the codecs, but I thought codecs don´t have anything to do with the SPDIF passthourg, because the decoding was made by the AV.

Do i miss something? ¿do i need to istall some codec in order to listen to those files or something to config in the MediaPortal Player?

I am ok with the SAF codecs, and i don´t want to install more codecs to mess up everything.

need some help, thanks in advance.

To play wav files you do not need any kind of codec pack = this have nothing to do with SAF.

havent tried mpc-hc but wmp11 gives the same problem. but the audio stutterin with 347 seems subtitle related. without subs audio is fine. 348 however gives audio and video problems in both MP and wmp 11. other problem i have with 347 and 1.0.1 is that xvids dont play anymore. MP generates codec error that it cant play the file.

It must be MPC-HC player, not WMP or different player.

Confirmed - h.264/vc-1 software decoding seems to be broken. Lets wait for another standalone filters release. Until then, SAF 3.48 download will be disabled.

347 and 1.0.1 is that xvids dont play anymore. MP generates codec error that it cant play the file

I also came across this error tonight. Actually everthing was fine until my son tried to rewind a movie. MP Froze completely and I had to exit out. When I restarted MP and tried to play an xvid movie I get this error now. It wont even play in WMP either. I tried the same movie on a seperate computer and it plays fine so not sure what it is. Might have to remove all codecs and reinstall them.

I already uninstalled SAF en re-installed it, but no succes. Very strange that xvids don't play anymore? Haven't tested this in mpc-hc or wmp11 yet, but will do when i have the time.

Hmm, cannot reproduce - no problem to play DivX/Xvid here.
