Oh, i understand now.
BTW - and what about PDVD 7.3 + SAF combination?

I think what we are trying to say is that we get PowerDVD 7.3 with the LG Bluray HD DVD drive combo. It works fine and I really love SAF and quite frankly have not found any other complete solution. But at the end of the day I also love my Bluray disks. I'm not willing to buy PowerDVD 9 as I all ready have PowerDVD 7.. Don't know what to do...
Is there any way around this?
Just discovered why my system has been refusing to use DXVA and, as I can't find it mentioned here by anyone else, I thought I'd share.
It was the Ultra VNC video hook driver causing me all the trouble. I'd setup UVNC ages ago to get remote access to my HTPC and forgot all about the hook driver. As soon as I turned off the hook driver option and restarted everything started working.
It might be worth listing it in the unsupported software.
...and what problems do you have ? Did you tryed to combine PDVD7.3 + SAF 3.49beta (unlocked)?
Hi hoborg
I think I'll continue here so we don't clutter the onlinevideo plugin thread with to much offtopic on codecs.
How is it possible to play HD DVD and Bluray disks, from my LG Bluray HD DVD combo player, with just the extracted PDVD9 DirectShow filter (by your description on the first page)?
If it is there wont be any navigation possibilitys without a player software, right? As far as I know MP doesn't support playing Bluray and HD DVD yet.
Even if I buy the PDVD9 software from Cyberlink they are no longer supporting the HD DVD format, right?
And as thesystemera and I thinks. We allready have a nice working Blurayplayer software and it's not an option to buy another just to be able to use your codecs, even if one maybe don't have any HD DVD titles on the bookshelf.
To understand it corectly - You need PowerDVD instaled to play Bluray and HD DVD.
My personal experience with this is 0, so if there are some features missing in PDVD9, i didnt know.
If i am not wrong, you can use PDVD9 to play Bluray and HD DVD as an external player from MP, right? But you cannot use PDVD9 to watch h.264TV.
So i think the combination of PDVD9 (for Bluray and HD DVD) and SAF 3.49beta (for H.264 TV and all others formats) should work.
It cannot be PDVD8 (or7) becouse of SAF VS PDVD conflict. But PDVD9 + SAF should work fine.
...i am thinking about all this and in theory, you can even use PDVD8 and SAF, but you need to install PDVD8 first then SAF (unlocked). But who know what happends...![]()
Since I like quality I only watch original DVD and Blurays and I bought PowerDVD 9. With PowerDVD 9 I can watch MPEG-2 and H264 in MediaPortal (DVD, Bluray and Live TV) and all with DXVA active.
So just to say that LiveTV is working with PDVD9.
