Re: AW: SAF v4.00beta (StandAlone Filters) - DXVA ready (MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1).

Do I need to add FFDShow Audio decoder to MP postprocessing?
The Setup of SAF said something about it, that ffdshow needs it to work correctly. I also activated the passthrough in the setup.

I've got a x-fi soundcard with spdif out >> Harman Kardon AVR 255

thanks in advance :)

Hoborg, can you answer that? Is it still required (with passthrough)?

Hi!

Is there any quality difference between ffdshow and PDVD9 for mpeg2/h(x)264?
How can one test/compare this in some easy way?

/Jonas...

I rarely watch DVDs, but yesterday I did it just to test out the new SAF 4.10, where ffdshow takes care of DVD playback. I have to say that panning motions seemed a lot less smooth than with PowerDVD (and hardware deinterlacing). ffdshow is also supposed to use hardware deinterlacing, right? I don't know what could be the problem.

RC1->RC2 - no filter updated at all.

SAF 4.00 RC use same MPEG-2 decoder as SAF 4.10 (FFDShow for DVD, PDVD for TV).

OK. I think that messed up codec merits have made PowerDVD kick in for DVDs before, and the results have always been good. Now I noticed choppier pans. One good thing though is that the DVD played all the way through without the "blackouts" that I have described earlier.

Installed the newest SAF now. Why is MPC recommended before Cyberlink for normal videos? Does both do HW acelleration?

    Hi hoborg!

What means "Line 21 Decoder 2" in Graphstudio (SDTV Graph)? Never seen this before! Screenshot is attached!

    Best regards

No idea - this is nothing from SAF. It can be some subtitles i think.
