I'm running xp and have switched between MPA and AC3filter all the time and it's always accurate in Graphedit. My understanding was that merit would only come into play if you were leaving things to chance, like running MPC without forcing external codecs, etc. The only time I've run two similar video codecs was with pdvd and mpc. Otherwise I follow "Hoborgs Law of codecs", don't install them unless absolutely necessary. :)
Even if you select a codec in mediaportal config others can still get used because of the merits- sometimes apps such as realplayer and nero can mess with them which is probably what caused my problem.

Just experienced this first-hand after installing the zune software, it completely screwed dxva in MP. After removing it and reinstalling haali and SAF, all is well. argh.

I assume the folks that are getting this to work are viewing mkv's? I have been trying to play .ts and .m2ts and have not had success with MP RC4 and XP Pro, SP3.

On the other hand, I have no problem playing the same files with MPC-HC. For example in Media Player Classic, I can play 3 different 1080 .m2ts files - one mpeg2, one H264, and one VC1. The mpeg2 and H264 use the MPC internal filters, the VC-1 uses the WMVideoDMO filter and all play flawlessly. Haali does the splitting.

Installation of the SAF filters overrides the WMVideoDMO filter for VC-1 with the MPC filter. This breaks the VC-1 playback in all the software players on the computer. Why can't Mediaportal manage it's filters as well as MPC?

    Just to let you know:

I have uninstalled mediaportal and deleted the database. A reinstall of mediaportal and SAF solved most of my problems with MKV's. Even a FULL HD Bluray rip now plays fine! (no subs though).

Some MKV's still have trouble keeping in sync; but thats probably because of worse encoding.

Excellent! whenever I have issues with mkv playback, I remove Haali and SAF, reboot, then reinstall both and that seems to fix it. otherwise it's either subs or bad encoding. I'm almost to the point where I run everything I download through a re-encode just because it's easier than having problems later! A few of the movies I grabbed seem to play fine, then if I skip around start locking up. Re-encoding always clears it up.

Hi, great compilation, made my life a lot easier, thanks!

anyhow, i was wondering do you plan on adding 768p, you already have 720p and 1080p resolutions, but my TV is HDReady - meaning 1366 x 768 at 60Hz, so a 720p is a tad bit smaller, would be beautiful to be exact.

If i can do it somehow, just advise, i tried finding in the codecs configuration what did you do, but you are just to skilled for me, so heeelpp :)

    Regards!

BTW, great Amiga page, when will wee see a game plug in for Amiga games in MP? Now, that would be godlike, i myself am a big Amiga fan, see my site :D

About resolution - this is only for better looking subtitles, so for 768 choose 720.
BTW - what GPU do you have? How you add 1366 to you resolutions? I think only 1360 and 1368 is possible (must be multiple by 8)

Well, i am not coder, so no plugins from me...

    Hi, people
First of all, best regards and many thanks to Hoborg for the fruitful and good work.
I use MB with integral GPU in GA-MA790GP-DS4H. ATI Catalist 8.51.
You recomend 8.5. Is it the same or not? If not, should i have any bad consequences installing the only soft for MB missing
Catalist 8.51? And other version of Catalist (e.g.8.5) will be set up separately.
