I've just installed SAF (following the instructions) and it works - however, performance is appalling and stutters on HD files (yes I did tick the enable hardware acceleration box, CPU usage around 40% - a reduction over what it was).

I'm wondering how to uninstall the changes now - performance is unusable but I know before fiddling around that everything worked perfectly in PowerDVD 8 (& other products, just MP where a problem existed) but now when I reinstall PowerDVD it crashes when playing many of my HD files - can you tell me how to go backwards please!

    Hello.
To uninstall SAF just execute saf.exe again - this will remove all SAF stuff.
Can you be more specific about yours problem?
Can you fill your hardware & software specifications in your User CP?
Can you start some of problematic video, connect Graphstudio and post graph here?

Maybe MP LOGs can help too.

    Hoborg,

:D:Dso much for this pack, it really works fine, even with my old configuration and my old nvidia card! I can now watch HD mkv movies fine!

Just one thing: in the configuration for DVD you wrote to put Cyberlink DVD navigator, and it doen't work (DVD don't play and if DVD ripped on the HD work, it is not possible to change language and sub titles. So that I changed the option and put DVD navigator (the one includes with MP). Everything is fine now.

There are 2 kinds of files that I cannot read: flv (used for podcasts) and dvr-ms (I cannot read anymore my registred TV). HOw is it possible to solve that?

    Thanks again,

    Hello.
I did quick update, and SAF 2.40 can play Adobe Flash *.flv video now.
Just remember, you need to add .flv extension in MP video extension configuration.
I tested it only on your example and this example have no sound.
Can you try some video with sound and confirm, that is played correctly?
You can create graph if you want and post it here, so i can see if it is working correctly :)

Did you uninstall PowerDVD before installing SAF and did you install Haali media splitter (it is required for SAF to work correctly)? You should also have uninstalled SAF before installing PDVD again. Try running the SAF program again which will uninstall it, uninstall PDVD, then reinstall PDVD again (and apply the latest update).

    Hi Hoborg,

I downloaded the new version of your pack (2.40) and I must say you that it perfectly works with .flv files (sound is ok)! :DI am very happy because I can watch all the podcasts now!

Regarding dvr-ms files, I did more tests yesterday and some just play fine, and another have just the sound, and no image.

About Cyberlink DVD player, I post MP log so that you may be can detect what happens, why it does'nt work, and with DVD navigator the video plays fine BUT I have no access to the main menu (bonus, etc...) the main film plays as soon as I say"yes " to "do you want to play the inserted disk?"

Generally speaking the sound is now very low (with ffdshow I udes the post processing function to increase it). Is there something to do with your pack?

    Thanks for your answers

A million thanks and a quick question.

I've spent the last two weeks working on getting my machine running DVXA. The instructions in this thread worked near perfection! The only change I needed to make was to turn off the autoload directvobsub, as it was killing the acceleration on a few videos I had. I found the answer to that in this thread too! I can't thank you enough!

One question though. I have a few videos that aren't accelerating and a few that have blocks in them. When I was using the CoreAVC (no hw accel) this didn't happen. Any ideas? Is this the compatibility ID setting, level 4.1 issue? I noticed these came set as compat. ID 5.

    thanks again!

Hello. I check your log and you hit the same problem as i have on my Vista 64machine:
DVDPlayer:Unable to get dvdvolumeinfo 0x80040276 - no idea what this mean :(
But if you have WinXP, that mean, it is not Vista64 related...

About sound - no, i don't know about any way how to normalize audio, sorry.

Hello, nice to hear it is working to you. :)
Well, best thing you can do is split non working video by MKVmerge and post some examples here, so i can look on them. This takes just few clicks.

About your VSFilter problem - VSfilter only load when needed, thats mean only when video have subtitles, or can by loaded by differen splitter then Haali.
Are you sure your video don't have subtitles?

I think i will create a section with video examples, and split them to working and non working with SAF...

Yes, I confirm you that I am using WinXP and that we have the same problem (I read your post, hoping that somebody will have an idea and answer...)
So it is not related to Vista or XP. But it seems to be related to Windows and not MP!

Maybe you can help me to find problem...
Can you start regedit.exe and found & export (right click - export) this two entries?

    9BEEF243-8140-429E-AE6D-13953D1E3BE6
    8ACD52ED-9C2D-4008-9129-DCE955D86065

You can find every entry 4 times, so you should export 8 *.reg files.

    EDIT:
I think the problem is in DVD protection and PowerDVD navigator don't allow to play protected DVD's.
You need to decrypt DVD to HDD (you can use old good DVDDecrypter) and play it from harddisk, or use DVD navigator.
