That is unfortunate that your SSD died. I have read many mixed reviews for SSD's and I really want to pick one up but I am afraid that I will be in your current situation. Seems that maybe companies are rushing these units out.

Anyways, here is my log. Perhaps I am doing something wrong that is obvious.

And as always, thanks for your hard work.

Edit: I know that we are discouraged to talk about Win 7 as the developers offer no support, but since we are somewhat on the topic and it is in RTM build, I thought I would mention some other observations here. Mediaportal as a whole seems to work pretty smoothly. My MCE remote now works flawlessly unlike in earlier builds where a work around was necessary. Problems I've run into aren't that big. Biggest of which is the online videos plugin I get the BSOD. Other than that I am having a generally good experience with this RTM build.

    I tested SAF on PDVD 7.3, but not on 7.0, not idea...

    Ok. Its 2.38am and I have spent all night trying to get SAF to work with PDVD 7.3

    This is a fresh install of XP SP3 x86. I had got 3.47 working, and then made a disk image of the install. Then I put in the Blu Ray drive which had the PowerDVD suite on it including PDVD 7.3.

    So, I restored the disk image, uninstalled 3.47, installed 3.49 beta 23, and then installed PowerDVD7.3. PowerDVD 7.3 then works ok but if I try to play any HD video in MP, it gives me the error message above.

    Reinstalled 3.49 beta 23, which makes video in MP work again but breaks PowerDVD, so that it quits on start.

    I have reverted to the image 4 times tonight, and tried every variation I can think of to try to get SAF working with Powerdvd, but I cant get them to play nice. Each time I install SAF it breaks PowerDVD and each time I install PowerDVD it breaks SAF.

    Please, any help anyone can offer would be really helpful. Im at the end of my tether.

    Olny one think witch SAF do is unregistering one *.ax file (PDVD splitter). Not sure wich one it is right now. Wierd is i can start DVD 7.3 normaly even if SAF is installed

    What exactly PDVD do if you click on PDVD icon on dektop?

    EDIT:
    I think i found possible problem, i will try to fix it in next SAF release.

    PDVD 7 and 7.3

    I feel sorry for you Hoborg

    This ongoing problem with PDVD has put you on the edge I can imagine :(

    If anyone told you that almost everyone (I presume .. ) using PDVD7 included with their lately bought Bluray/HD drive (f.ex. LG. here in Sweden), was told (Internet trough the software) to promptly upgrade to version 7.3, and also did so, you wouldnt have to bear this burden and deal with the wrong version. Obviously you should try all your tests with the 7.3 version :)

    I guess you feel fine here with all your good works and credits you actually get here, and you are maybe a youngster yet ;), in this great community, but please take care and take this experience as a warning if you want to do this kind of jobs as a fulltime work, as an employee or have your own company.....
    You'll get "burned out" in notime I'm afraid.
    Please keep it up but take care and back off to "soften in the sofa sometimes" :)

    Vacation and white wine :D
    Cheers // Ove

    Hey guys I have a working PowerDVD 7.3 and SAF setup going, it's all got to do with the order in which you install the programs and a lot of CCleaner. :)

    Uninstall all PDVD and SAF components...
    Run CCLeaner
    Install all PDVD components
    Restart Computer
    Install SAF 3.49Beta22
    WOLA!

    If you uninstall SAF at any point after this, your PDVD will be come unusable as it seems to deregister the program, including CD Key? There for, have to go through the process again... Hope this helps..

    PS: Works fine with 1.02 even though you get the warning must use ALPHA message! :)

    ...and that should be fixed.

    SAF when uninstalled clean all refistry entry wich was insetred. One of then is PDVD setting.

    OK, i did some SAF changes and here is updated info about PDVD 7.3 and SAF:
    - instaled PDVD 7.3, activated + updated to ver. 7.3.3730
    - installed new SAF
    - PDVD starts normaly and play DVD normaly
    - MP play DVD normaly using PDVD9 decoder
    - SAF uninstalled - PDVD still works OK and play DVD OK

    SAF 3.49 beta 24
    Changelog

    -please test and report

    BTW, if you uninstall PDVD7.3, it will leave a lot of mess in registry... :(

    Hello Hoborg,

    I continue here, so I can attach files. I can see you have found the newer quartz in Microsoft Kb (i obtained mine with windows update).

    With PowerDVD9 and SAF (beta 23) after (or without PowerDVD9) i can't see the Cyberlink H264 decode in the video and TV codecs Mediaportal config.

    So I uninstalled all and downloaded beta 24, I installed PowerDVD 7.3 and after SAF. The Cyberlink H264 (PDVD7) appeared in the config and I selected it. But the files with online videos doesn't stream (the system download all the video and after it plays the video).

    I uninstalled beta 24 (because I forgoted to update PowerDVD 7.3), i updated online and i reinstalled SAF b24. The Cyberlink H264 is missing newly from the Mediaportal Config. (I rebooted the machine allways and cleaned the registry with CCleaner).

    Can I register it manually? (it register ok, but maybe this can affect SAF).

    I attach the install logs from SAF, and a graph with a flv played with onlinevideos.

    Thanks.

    Hi horborg

    I did a reformat -> XP SP3, ATI 9.7 (HD4670), MP 1.1 Alpha, quartz security update

    Then install PDVD9 H264 Codec as standalone codec install (Using HDPack 2.2)
    (ie without installing PDVD software)

    Then i installed latest SAF beta using your instructions of that special file in system32 directory
    Everything working well
    HDTV h264 working well using PDVD9 H264
    My Videos seem to be working well using SAF (MPCVideoDec)

    Thanks a lot

    One thing that is missing from SAF is good support for 5.1 AAC over SPDIF
    The problem is that nearly all receivers can't support multichannel AAC decoding
    Therefore if use SPDIF and don't downmix to stereo then you will basically mute the center channel dialog
    If you downmix to stereo, then the sound is good, but you loose your 5.1 advantage

    Solution: Install FFDShow audio codec and use that codec for AAC, FFDShow will decode 5.1 AAC -> 5.1 AC3. When you install FFDShow unfortunately it also installs video codec, so you must unselect all options except for AAC. You should also block MP from access FFDShow Video codecs, by removing mediaportal from the list of allowable programs during the video codec install.

    Now I have MPA Audio decoder (SPDIF) decoding/pass through all sounds except for AAC which is handled by FFDShow.

    NB - I originally tried using the following graph
    Video -> Splitter -> Monogram AAC -> AC3Filter (Post processing)
    But this messed up the channel order because the channel order in AAC is different to AC3, ie Center AAC channel will come out the front right channel if you use AC3 for post processing.

    EDIT: Hoborg, do you use the ATI registry hack to get consistent grey levels between SD and HD video. If you google people state that one using 16-235 levels and one uses 0-255 levels, the fix is supposed to make sure they both use the same format.

    EDIT(2): I noticed that post installing SAF the AAC decoder was set to MPA rather than Monogram AAC. (This was prior to doing my ffdshow 5.1 AAC fix)

    Hi hoborg

    File = Dragons.Forever.1987.ENGSUB.DivX.avi
    Video = DivX 6 576x336 23.98fps 966Kbps (According to pin info in MPC-HC)

    Plays with black screen in mediaportal, audio fine.

    Plays fine in MPC-HC
    MPC-HC Graph = Dragons Forever.mkv -> MPC Video Dec -> Video Renderer

    Tried renaming to Dragons.Forever.1987.ENGSUB.DivX.mkv, still plays with black screen in MP
    MP Graph = Dragons Forever.mkv -> Haali -> Xvid MPEG4 Decoder -> VMR9

    I am using latest SAF + MP 1.1 Alpha + Latest SVN
    I installed using the SAF xvid option for higher quality, maybe the xvid decoder is not as robust as the mpcvideo decoder for xvid mpeg4?

    Do you want sample file?

    EDIT: Uninstalled SAF, Reinstalled SAF using MPC-HC Filter instead of Xvid filter, video now plays fine, new graph uses mpc filter instead of xvid filter.
