Question is if AC3/DTS will be passtrough directly if they will have bitrate < 48khz.
Too bad i cannot test myself.

I thought passthrough meant DO NOT encode....

You can only passthrough AC3 and DTS (other formats needs to be encoded to be able to passthrough, for example MP3: MP3 to PCM - > PCM to AC3 -> AC3 to SPDIF).

WMA pro and HD DVD / Blu-ray audio formats are also bitstreamable, so those shouldn't be decoded and encoded but instead sent as passthru

Because i guess most of the people have a receiver not being able to work with the new BluRay/HD DVD audiostreams.

That is why i prefer to output most standard output - DTS and AC3 48khz.
I found in ffdshow registry options to Passthrough DTSHD, EAC3, and TRUEHD but they are currently off (maybe later i will add this option as on/off to start menu)
First of all i wanted to found if FFDshow is capable to Passthrough correctly, becouse some users here tells it is not. Thats is why i created this test version.

I really want to help you. I think it is good if somebody gathers a couple of samplefiles/links which contains various formats of audio. This way, it is possible to compare results in a constructed manner. And this prevents different people testing with 100 different files and having different results and maybe even false errors.
Source is then know, expected output should be know.
Example:
1 - Movie / DTS 5.1 audio (48khz)
2 - Movie / DTS 5.1 audio (44.1khz)
3 - Movie / PCM audio (48khz)..
Etc. Idea is clear I think. Ofcourse, I have not kept in mind what kind of audio formats are available in movie files.

Hello, I'm having trouble with some 1080i MPEG-2 files. I'm using unlocked SAF, Cyberlink for decoding (checked with Graphstudio) but video stutters and it's quite clear DXVA is not working. I'm using Vista 32 bits, ATI 3850 and all h.264 HD content works perfectly with SAF and DXVA, but MPEG-2 refuses. What am I doing wrong?

Might be the de-interlacing. try and disable the de-interlacing in FFDshow video. De-interlacing can be done by the ATI. If a software de-interlacing method kickes in, this might cause a stuttering image due to high CPU usage... You can simply try by unticking the interlacing tab in ffdshow video settings.

ISO and VIDEO_TS sound problems

I installed SAF.
All the HD files run now very smoothly and sound is correct.
However when I run ISO files or movies via the VIDEO_TS directory it seems that I only have background sounds!
The speaking dialogs are not hear-able.

Does anyone else ran into this problem, is there a solution for this?

Thanks, edterbak... but I think FFDShow is not working. It's a 1080i .ts file which I muxed into a .mkv, so all I see with Graphstudio is Haali splitter, AC3 filter and Default Direct Sound Device for audio, and Cyberlink video/SP decoder (PDVD9) and Enhanced Video Renderer for video. That's all, no FFDShow involved I think.

EDIT : Funny, even while stuttering, CPU usage is always below 25% ...

Note1: The two files with the error (in red) do work in saf400beta18.exe with the use of AC3Filter as postprocessing.
Note2: I did not find any 44100hz DTS/AC3 movie files. I don't know if they exist.

And to be clear.... I did NOT check any of the audio for glitches or loss of quality. This is because my daughter is sleeping 3 meters away from me... Can't turn up the receivers volume.


QUESTION: Can someone tell me how to easilly create a small sample (of 5-10 seconds) from an original mkv/avi without re-encoding?
