Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hi Hoborg,
I have a couple of questions.

In the opening post it says "Do not add anything in to MePo postprocessing!"
Does this only account for DVD codec settings or also for Video and TV?

For all. Adding for example FFDshow audio decoder to MePo video postprocessing will broke playback of videos with multiple audio streams.
If I have files with DD+ or DTS-HD audio and my receiver can only handle 5.1 DD and DTS, do I need to change something in ffdshow to have correct output (5.1 Spdif) to my receiver for these files?
Just enabling passthrough durning SAF5 install should be enought. That is default setting

With Bluray handler and SAF 5 it is possible to play Bluray files that are stored on a network HDD, right?
Yep, it should be working (if they are decrypted).

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I dowloaded my first Bluray to see if it works, but it doesn't.
No error message, the screen just flickers and stays on the same screen.
I've installed SAF 5 with the opening post settings.

The Bluray folder has only 1 m2ts file, don´t know if that matters.
It does play in WMP (with just crackled noise as sound) and in Graphstudio with correct sound (can select audio stream)
Graphstudio shows MPC - Mpeg Source (Gabest) / FFDshow DXVA / EVR / FFDshow audio / default directsound device
I cannot connect to graph of WMP in graphstudio to check

Here is the info of the file from the download site:
Format: BDAV
Video: 1920x1080 at 24.000 fps (True24p), MPEG-4 AVC, ~ 23.9 Mbps avg
Audio # 1: Russian: 48 kHz, AC3, 3 / 2 (L, C, R, l, r) + LFE ch, ~ 384.00 kbps avg | Dubbing, R5 |
Audio # 2: Ukrainian: 48 kHz, AC3, 3 / 2 (L, C, R, l, r) + LFE ch, ~ 384.00 kbps avg | Many-voiced voiceover, R5 |
Audio # 3: Russian: 48 kHz/16-bit, DTS-HD 7.1, 3 / 2 (L, C, R, l, r) + LFE ch, ~ 3066 .00 kbps avg | voiceover, Yu Nemaha |
Audio # 4: English: 48 kHz/16-bit, DTS-HD 7.1, 3 / 2 (L, C, R, l, r) + LFE ch, ~ 3063 .00 kbps avg
Audio # 5: English: 48 kHz, AC3, 2 / 0 (L, R) ch, ~ 224.00 kbps avg | Commentary with Director Christian Alvart and Producer Jeremy Bolt |
Subtitles: Russian, English, Ukrainian (at the moment without translation)

Keep the original Chapter as a Blu-ray.
Because of Gluck on DVD, ~ 50 seconds Ukrainian track had to replace the original, they made subtitles.
Track # 3 is obtained imposing pure voice on the center of the decoded DTS-HD MA.

I have no idea if this info helps to figure out why it doesn't play in MP.

kkendall:
Well, if you can play your file in Graphstudio, then SAF is working as it should.

If you try to play *.m2ts file directly from My Videos - does it play?

Both MovingPictures and MyVideos switch the screen to black, with a message that it switched to 24fps. When the message disappears or when I click OK, MP switches back to last screen...
Would logs be helpfull (and which ones)?

EDIT: changing to mkv doesn't help, gives 'cannot play file. video: avc, audio: AC3-MC'
It does create previews in mp.

@kkendall:

So does it play in graphstudio or not?

Yes, like I said it does play in Graphstudio correctly (also plays in WMP (but with crackled noise as sound))
Playing the file in Graphstudio shows: MPC - Mpeg Source (Gabest) => FFDshow DXVA => EVR and FFDshow audio => default directsound device

Playback of mkv/avi/etc...

OK.
Try to play your video in Graphstudio - does it work or not?
if not disable audio passthrough durning SAF install and try agaiin.
If yes, try to play it in MePo then send me your MePo and SAF logs, i will take a look.

About my problem several days ago.
Playback video (MKV) in Graphstudio works. (File > Add media File > select mkv)
Playback video (MKV) in MediaPortal (debug mode) does not work.:(

Here are my logs (2010-08-31)
(I'm no expert about reading these logs, but i saw something about EVR and VMR settings?)

No idea, something wrong on MePo side:
Code:

2010-08-31 23:34:40.604000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: VMR9: Failed to add Renderer to filter graph

Playing the file in Graphstudio shows: MPC - Mpeg Source (Gabest) => FFDshow DXVA => EVR and FFDshow audio => default directsound device

I found out that if I play this DTS-HD 7.1 file with DTS passthrough in FFDShow on (and DTS-HD off) in MPC-HC it plays with DTS 5.1 passthrough sound, but it refuses to play in MP.
If I play this DTS-HD 7.1 file with DTS passthrough in FFDShow off (and DTS-HD off) in MPC-HC it plays with DD 5.1 sound, and it also plays in MP! But I don't want to turn DTS(HD) into DD, I want DTS. And I don't want to turn off DTS passthrough.
It would be perfect if I could also have DTS in MP...... :(
What's going on?
