Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Tried this setting on 2 different machines. Both times with failure. On my laptop here at the office, it refuses to play xvid and h264, both times with Unable to Play message. A DVD dump on hard drive does play, but with horrible tearing. I'm up for more testing later today. Just got back from holidays and need to do some work-related stuff after updating MP :)

Hi.
Thanks for testing. MePo logs will be usefull.

EDIT
I tryed all samples i have here, all playing without problem...

Hi.
Thanks for testing. MePo logs will be usefull.

EDIT
I tryed all samples i have here, all playing without problem...

I will try again very soon on another computer with the same files. My laptop setup could have gotten "compromised".

I have three movies that I tested with, here is the codec information according to VLC

1. Cloudy with a chance of meatballs.avi - mpga / XVID
2. Fargo.mkv - mp4a / avc1
3. Arthur and the invisibles VOB files - a52 or dts / mpgv

I only later realised that DVD has it's own settings, so I guess this DVD has issues being played with ffdshow. It plays perfect with PowerDVD as decoder. Nevertheless, I included it in testing.

SAF 2010-08-30 auto: (log ending with _06)
1. Cloudy - fails
2. Fargo - fails
3. Arthur - plays garbled (perfect with powerDVD, different issue)

SAF 2010-08-30 ffdshow and ffdshow DXVA for H264 (log ending with _08)
1. Cloudy - plays
2. Fargo - fails
3. Arthur - same as above

SAF 2010-06-25 (previous version I have here at work) (log ending with _11)
1. Cloudy - plays
2. Fargo - fails
3. Arthur - crashes MP (pointing at incompatibility with FFDshow)

I tried playing Fargo with PowerDVD decoder, fails as well. And graphstudio fails as well with SAF 2010-08-30. I will provide an extract with MKVmerge later on...

RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting is a sample from the file that failed in every circumstance.

Disabled subtitles. Automatic failed in every case. Fargo kept failing with manual setting.

Just finished setting up MP on my office desktop, will do some testing there with the same files. System should be in better shape.

EDIT: exactly same issues on my desktop PC

You are right, automatic decoder setting doesnot work at all on Win7. I bet it have something to do with EVR renderer.

BTW, i can play your "MPtest-001.mkv" sample without any problem here (automatic decoding disabled).

Hm, I can play the test-file as well. I guess I'll just run the wole file through MKVMerge... And stay away from automatic settings for the moment :p

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hi,

Hoborg

this Weekend i´ve made a new Cleaninstall of Win7. After all I install SVN 100823 unlocked and it works very good. All my Videos, TV and Onlinevideos works.:D

But now Iam a little bit confused about your new SVN Version. What means DVB Hotfix, is this necassary to install ?

Please explain what this means .

On the other hand, can I use the SVN 100823 whithout any sorros until the final Version of SAF 5 is released ?

And a basic Question:

What version of SAF would you recommended for WIN7 - SAF4 or SAF5 ?:D

Best Regards
Harald

Sorry, I haven't read all the 142 pages but I would like to know if this will allow me to bitstream DTS-MA and DTS-TrueHD with MP (I'm using ATI 5770)?
