Ok, so 5 is final. Congrats!

Q: Is the mpeg2 codec (ffdshow video) using dxva or not?

+press CTRL+ALT+nunlock0 for next subtitle streams
+press CTRL+ALT+nunlock1 for next audio streams

I'm using "yellow" and "green" for this, do I have to use a keyboard or can this be configured as "normal" in an easy way?

Testing SAF5 final registry values from
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectShow\Preferred]
are NOT restored to default values when SAF5 is uninstalled.

Is it your recommendation to re-install Windows after installing/uninstalling SAF product to fix peoples systems?

    What OS do you have?
I checked my x64 registry an it is restored correctly

Unfortunately that way is not compatible with the MCE that is recommended remote control for MP. Unless you are using some 3rd party software (or IR Server Suite) in addition to MP. Too bad that ffdshow doesn't have real interface to allow stream changes.

I've recently installed SAF v5 final (unlocked) and set it up as per the instructions.

It's been fine until just now, when LiveTV was playing and suddenly the picture became very jerky, like one of those old movies where the fps was low!

After stopping and restarting LiveTV, it was fine again, so I'm sure it wasn't a weak signal problem.

Re: SAF v5.00 *final* (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    I uninstalled rc2 and installed 5.0 Final.

Seems to be working fine. However ...

    I had to use:

The included Hauppauge Audio and Video codecs for Analog TV tuner (it's hybrid, but not using Clear-QAM or ATSC)
    - Because the audio and Video was not in-sync the described way

    TV Codecs
    - MPEG2 video decoder: MainConcept (HCW) MPEG-2 Video Decoder
    - H264 video decoder: CyberLink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD9)
    - MPEG/AC3 Video Decoder: MainConcept (HCW) Layer II Audio Decoder
    - LATM AAC audio decoder: Monogram AAC Decoder
    - DD+ Audio Decoder: ffdshow Audio Decoder
    - Audio Renderer: Default DirectSound Device

On the DVD Tab ... changed those also because it was having a problem with some VIDEO_TS folders. Changed to:

    DVD Codecs
    - DVD Navigator: DVD Navigator
    - - DVD video decoder: CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9 UPnP)
    - - DVD audio Decoder: CyberLink Audio Decoder (PDVD9 UPnP)
    - - Audio Renderer: Default DirectSound Device

And these set the recommended way, seem to play all my AVIs (and other video files):

    Video Codecs
    - MPEG2 video decoder: ffdshow Video Decoder
    - H264 video decoder: ffdshow DXVA Video Decoder
    - MPEG/AC3 Video Decoder: ffdshow Audio Decoder
    - AAC Audio Decoder: ffdshow Audio Decoder
    - Audio Renderer: Default DirectSound Device

This is with VGA (15-pin) directly to TV and SPDIF (optical) to amp ... works great.

I gave up on the HDMI to amp only idea (seemed to be having problems with the negotiation and determining sound abilities). I doubt this is a codec problem ... more of a driver problem on XP.

Installed final a few days ago and since then all my SD content gets cropped in a 4:3 frame while it's 16:9 content......
It's a FFDshow problem I think because when I changed to powerdvd decoder for mpeg content it's being displayd right. So why is FFDshow cropping SD content?

If you open your video in Graphstudio, how it looks like? Is it correct?
