Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

On the x64 question, can one install Windows 7 x64 and install SAF (obviously it's an x86 'application'), and will everything play correctly?

Hoborg,
I finaly got HDTV (1080i) working on my hd4350 + deinterlacing (vector adaptive) + MP. :)

I had to install AMD's Fusion 2 which reduces system load. I see perfect images and no tearing. rarely a judder.

    That doesn't matter!

MP is a x86-application, so MP can only use x86-codecs!

What's AMD Fusion? I never heard that...

Same here in m2ts videos. Have not used any mkv's lately so can't be sure about that. Weird thing is that it is random. I can stop a video and restart it and the behavior will change, either turning on or off on it's own, but once the video starts it doesn't change during the video.

Since there was no reply to this: was this fixed in the latest FFDShow builds? haven't updated yet but will probably try today. I can confirm that this is completely random for me too, and yes, I have OSD disabled in AUDIO and VIDEO settings ;)

On a totally unrelated sidenote: the changelog link on the first page is broken, it stills points to saf_changelog instead of changelog ;)

Yeah.. I had the same issue using SAF v5. For me, it was the ffdshow VFW codec that kept coming back with the OSD enabled. I'm not exactly sure what fixed it eventually but I think it was when I did the following...
Open the VFW config, uncheck OSD and clicked Apply, played a video to make sure the OSD was off, then clicked OK on the VFW config.

    VFW?
SAF didnt install this, VFW is disabled by SAF default...

Yes. Win 7x64 have x86 core too. It is two systems mixed in to one...

Sorry.. I was going by memory. It could have been the DXVA. I remember it wasn't the regular ffdshow decoder but another one with "ffdshow" in the name.

I need to confirm it further before I do that. Need some testing time to see if its actually perfect, or still maybe some tearing or so..
    I will report back later.
Maybe other users could try this. It is experimental and I am acutally not THAT happy with Fusion. It caused me to reinstall windows becuase I coundt get rid of it anymore... but that was 6 montsh ago and this is a new release.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

For some reason on some of my x264 encoded videos I am getting a green line along the right side of the entire video. I am using the latest experimental build of saf5 (SAF 5.00 SVN100616) and MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC4. I tried using both the ffdshow dxva video decoder and the cyberlink pdvd10 decoder and both provided the same result. Again, it's not on every video that I try to play, but some will have this green line along the side.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and am using the 10.6 Catalyst drivers from ATi.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening? Please let me know what additional information I should provide if it is needed. The reason I went from saf4 to saf5 was because I was having issues when unpausing video where the frame would be frozen for several seconds while the audio was trying to catch up, which was a bit bothersome to me because id have to rewind the video each time.

I appreciate any help that I can get and thank you for your time!

Edit: Not sure what the problem is, but after reverting to SAF4 final, I'm still having the same issue with the same files. I'm not sure if it has something to do with the video aspect ratio or something, but I can't seem to figure it out. The same files play fine on this computer in MPC-HC with ffdshow so it makes it even more confusing for me it figure out.

hoborg, what FLV splitter is currently included? offbyone improved one? I just read here that PDVD10 includes even better FLV splitter.. Is it possible to include it in SAF beta?

Well yes, but only in to *unlocked* version...
