Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I haven't used SAF yet, but as I am about to overhaul my HTPC setup, I'm seeing this as a good option. My primary concern is TV deinterlacing (I assume h264 and SD-DVD deinterlacing would not be an issue). Hence, I have some questions:

1. Is there any benefit in me purchasing a new ATI 5xxx GPU to replace my ATI X1900XT? I assume the GPU will be doing the deinterlacing as opposed to FFDSHOW?
2. Will SAF install itself to deinterlace all necessary video?
3. What settings do I need to apply to the CCC drivers?

1) yes, ATI 5450 is great for HTPC
2) yes - MPEG-2 (LiveTV + DVD) and h.264

    Evis ------ !!!! :D ...

hows it goin? haven't seen you online since i left "h-sat"...

    to your question:

the 1900XT is good - but the 5th generataion got a much better DXVA ...
with that GPU u will bring the temps down (also of the CPU - les work for it)

... less heat - quieter system ... less power consumpation ...

so take the 5450 - there will be only benefits :)

    for the CCC question
(the "3" that hoborg didn't answered)

    - deinterlacing option - manual -
use "Vector Adapted Deinterlacing" option ...
    that'll bring real good results

Except for the gaming performance which will definetely be much, much lower. But if that is of no importance, sure take the 5450, great quality/price ratio

I have read that the 5450 doesn't have the oomph to deinterlace TV properly, and that a 56xx is a minimum requirement. Can you confirm that the 5450 is in fact capable?

Hey buddy, I'm great thanks. Yeah haven't been in the scene as much in the past year, life's become very busy. What do you mean by it has a much better DXVA? I thought DXVA was all in software mode :s...

Also, could you confirm anything regarding my reply to hoborg about the 5450 not having sufficient power to deinterlace live TV?

Did you think make 64-bit version?
I have Win7-64 and use your last SAF 5.00 SVN100616, but video is having dropped frame. I think because some scenes jittering. Processor is loading 30-50%.
When I use ffdshow 64 bit, I see normally video without defects.

    Thanks! :)

You are joking, right? You cannot use x64 filters in x86 application :)
And no, there is no plan to create x64 SAF.
