Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

hoborg...

i was thinking for a cleaner install of SAF should the user install it before installing MP?

in my previous attempts of using SAF, i installed MP 1st, then SAF. with the guide i tried applying the codecs with MP already installed and that didnt work. it wasnt until i removed MP the re-installed/registered the codecs then installed MP that it worked. could that have been my problem with SAF?

SAF needs to be installed always as last one.
First of all, try if it is working in Graphstudio to eliminate player problem/player configuration problem.

I just uploaded another SAF SVN.

Just overwrite the existing dll with the new one and enable mpc-hc in the mp configuration. That was all, I had to do.

Remember - SAF 5 is experimental. There is a lot of new functions, tons of updates on FFDshow side which can be still buggy or can be broken every next revision like subtitles/audio passthrough - just look on FFDshow change log. One fixed problem can trigger even more problems and so on...

If you didnt apply MePo patches - read first post :)

i've applied that patch but it still doesnt work.. ah well i aint stressing over it right now i'm just happy to be up and running...

I wrote this already, you have 2 options (two subtitles engine)

    - buid in MePo - you need to apply patches, SAF subtiles must be off durning SAf install and PePo subtitles must be on
    - using SAF (FFDShow) subtitle engine - MePo subtitles must be off, SAF subtiles must be on durning SAf install

Could you be more clear in this? I have just reinstalled SAF with my patched MePo installation (running latest SVN+patches now). I never use ffdshow engine, always MePo MPC-HC engine. I always turn off subtitles immediatly in ffdshow after SAF installation. But still I can't select subtitles in MePo.

    Strange problem here,

Installed SAF V5.00: all movies play fine exept .mkv with mpeg 2 codec there is no video codec to play the movie.
when opening the movie in graphstudio there is no codec to play the movie.

when i install SAF V4.00: The .mkv playes fine with the ffd codec. but not with dxva.
How can i make this work with SAF V5.00 and dxva support.

Can you provide small sample? Did you unlocked SAF?

No i have a locked version.
when i make a sample with mkvmerge the sample plays  the whole movie not.
Strange problem. i have it with 10 mkv files. powerdvd10 does play the movie files.
so i can't make a sample because it works to me also... a whole movie doesn't
    Hope you can help.

hey thanks for following up but late last nigh it redid everything spun up a fresh copy of Win7 and followed this guide
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/newcomers-forum-240/mediaportal-install-guide-49685/
i wished i tried it sooner could of saved 2 months of aggravation...

my problem was with mkv files with both DTS/DD and HD LossLess audio in Graphstudio/MPClassic and MP..
after redoing everything with the guides instructions i'm up and running...

This is also a workaround for the vc-1(i) problem. I'm using that mpcvideodec.ax file for decoding only vc-1 tracks and they work just fine now. No stutter/sound out of sync or any other problem.
Checked the rest and they all are still being decoded by ffdshow (dxva):). So for now the use of mpcvideodec for ONLY vc-1 works like a charm:D

no need to reinstal for me, just register mpc worked

How to set DXVA in PWDVD9&10 to get HA? I go to filter settings, set to DXVA, applied but settings don't save (it's always SW which is selected)

    It is enabled by default.
You can confirm this by connect graphstudio durning video playback.

How to you check DXVA is working in graphstudio? (i can connect graph but after?)

With AMD X2 5600 i have an average of 55% CPU usage for DVB-T H264 live watching.

    Hi Hoborg.

Split long subtitle lines should be disabled in FFVA configuration. Most subtitle lines are correctly splitted. But when using this the lines are weird :)

And I think subtitle color should be white by default, but that's my opinion.

Secondly i disabled MPC-HC subtitle engine. I got subtitles with ffdshow, but i cannot choose anyone i MP GUI and i did apply patch - what's wrong? Language selection works fine though.

I newer noticed any issue here, do you have any small video sample to reproduce?

    I prefer yelow :)
