Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hoborg,

To users with *.MOV files playback problems:

Please try this SAF5 test build.
You need to have QTLite4 frameworks installed.
Now rename your not working *.MOV to *.MOVSD.

Sorry to take so long testing this, but I had other problems with my setup and had to do a system re-build to make sure it was a problem with SAF and not just a problem with my system.

I can confirm that the latest version of SAF5 beta (101216) renaming the file from .mov to .movsd plays the video normally.

However, for some reason, with this version, my system will not output sound correctly. It will not output anything other than stereo for a dolby-prologic sound-track. even if I allow AC3 5.1 encoding output from ffdshow, it still only outputs stereo. If the file's sound-track is Dolby Digital or DTS, then the output is correct.

I am using optical SPDIF and have enabled passthrough. Reverting to an earlier SAF5 beta (101018) fixes this problem and dolby prologic works again.

With the .MOV fix, is there any way this can work without re-naming to .MOVSD, as my Macbook fails to recognise ,MOVSD files.

:D

Nope until there will be correct MOV splitter...
What about *.QT extension? I can add *.QT act as *.MOVSD.
About audio - no idea, i dint change anything in that part. Are you sure you enable passthrough durning SAF install? By default, only AC3 passthrough is enabled, maybe it is DTS track?

Hello Hoborg,

i try it but i get a problem in mkvmerge:

Fehler: 'scc' ist weder ein gültiger ISO639-2- noch ein gültiger ISO639-1-Code. Mit 'mkvmerge --list-languages' können Sie sich eine Liste aller Sprachen und ihrer ISO639-2-Codes ausgeben lasse

what can i do?

But the film was good with saf 4.

No idea.
BTW, did you add FFDShow to MePo postprocessing? If yes, remove it.

AW: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hi,

After Update to SVN 101216 my Recovery Software Acronis True Image 2011 work with issues. Now i have no more Notification about Status and working from this Software in Task. The Symbols and Icons in the taskstring shows nothing from Acronis Software:eek:

That is reproduceable by loading a recovery from an older Win7 Image from 20.12.2010. After installing this Image with the older SVN101210 all works fine until I update to SVN 101216. Then I got the same error before. After Deinstalling SAF i see nothing, too.

I tested this for more times with the same result : Saf 5 101210 killed Acronis Software Icons and Notifications !

What is happend ?

Ps. I use Win7 64

Best Regards
harald

I will try to re-install again and make sure I select passthrough.

*.QT works with Mac iMovie perfectly, so that extension would be perfect for this type of video. Thanks!

    Hoborg.

I just tried a re-install (with the latest version), and it still didn't work.

The symptoms are the same as if you have the tick in the option for "Encode only 5.1ch streams".

If I play a DTS or DD stream it passes through fine, if I play a dolby prologic it only passes through the stereo sound, not the prologic information.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi there,

I have upgraded to SAF5 101216 and notice bad lines on the SD content (when motion occurs) - its like watching american content (less lines) on a UK TV.

Downgrading to the previous version solves it.

    Anyone notice this?

    Thanks,

    J.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi Hoborg,
Just a question for my own understanding.
For the video section you used to recommend PDVD10 for both MPEG and H264 decoding. This has now been changed to ffdshow. What makes you prefer ffdshow over PDVD at the moment? And what are the pro's ad cons of PDVD10 compared to ffdshow? Is there anything I should be aware of when using PDVD10 for mpeg and h264 videos?

    kkendall:
My mistake. FFDShow doesnot work with MePofor MPEG-2 live TV very good - a/v sync issue. Use PDVD decoder.

I'm not sure what mistake you're talking about. :sorry: And I'm not asking for the tv part, but for the video part... So I would still like to ask you what makes you prefer ffdshow over PDVD in the video section? And what are the pro's ad cons of PDVD10 compared to ffdshow? Is there anything I should be aware of when using PDVD10 for mpeg and h264 videos?
