Codecs SAF v5.02 *final* (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder) (24 Viewers)

Hi hoborg,

I'm using SAF 5.02 final with MedisPortal 1.1.3, I've noticed that playing 1080P movies (using Radeon HD2600 Pro, latest Catalyst drivers, output resolution 1280x720, windows 7 64 bit, processor Q6600) with MP, when the picture slowly zooms in or out or panning I get somewhat choppy playback, playing the same scene with WMP 11 the result is much smoother and the best results are when playing with Graphstudio (somewhat better then WMP).

Is there something I can do to improve the playback with MP?

EDIT: I have a real problem with MP 1.1.3 and SAF 5.02, the picture freezes and the sound plays on normal. I'm sorry if I posted about it in the SAF 6.0 thread, I thought it's a SAF 6.0 problem.

EDIT: I got a problem stopping the movie, pressing stop on the remote freezes everything, no mouse, no keyboard, must force shutdown the PC.

EDIT: I've let a movie to play to the end without stopping , when it came to it's end I didn't get back MP normal interface, the PC got stuck like before. Had to force it to shut down

I'll try to uninstall MP 1.1.3 and install 1.1.1, that was my last good working version together with SAF 500svn101001 which was my stable combo for the last six month, I had a problem with an MKV movie that showed some artifacts around contours so I've decided to upgrade my MP and SAF, since then... the rest is known.

Could you help me solve me (or maybe us) this problem, cause I also had this problem a while ago with an episode of Game of Thrones.

I'm having the exact same problem.
And I can tell that it only happens with some of IMMERSE releases by the way.
MPC-HC can play with sound without any problem (MPC-HC that comes with SAF5)

You can try the 720p version of episode 3 from here: EZTV - TV Torrents Online
A small sample won't work, because I think there is a problem (a different setting that IMMERSE uses) with MKV container, because I once tried opening a similar file with MKVMerge and recreate the MKV and the problem was gone. (Also IMMERSE used to use specific setting, which could be fixed also as above, that made the file to not show any video... compressed mkv something it was called, but they gave up on using that)

Further details:
Even though MPC-HC is able to play without any problems, when you look at file properties in MPC-HC, in Details tab it shows as "Audio: Dolby AC3 0Hz 6ch" instead of "Audio: Dolby AC3 48000Hz 6ch" but it shows properly in MediaInfo tab as "Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz"
But even after recreating the container with MKVMerge, Details tab shows incorrect info about Hz but then MediaPortal is able to play the sound also...

I hope that you (hoborg) could solve the situation within SAF5 boundaries

Well, if the problem is in file itself, there is nothing i can do.
If the problem is solved by remuxing in latest MKV merge - that confirm it is file issue.

I don't know if I used the latest version of MKVMerge or not...

GraphStudio doesn't connect anything to audio so I manually added ffdshow Audio Renderer and it connected fine.
But when I try to connect to any output it doesn't connect.
How come MPC-HC is able to play without any problems?

I tried on another PC without SAF or any codec or any codecpack installed with just MPC-HC and it plays fine but Details still shows as 0Hz but MediaInfo is showing it correctly...

I don't know very much about these things like the way you do, but maybe the newer ffdshow binaries support these kinds of files?
From the changelogs, I see that:
SAF5 has FFDShow updated to rev.3775
SAF6 has FFDShow updated to rev.3886

Or any other ideas?
