Hi hoborg,
I have onboard graphic ATI radeon HD 3200. It plays everything pretty well. However, I have sometimes stuttering, or better said one shutter in HD video in a while. It doesn't disturb a lot but I was wondering what will/might be improved if I change to another graphic card.
Do you or anybody else have experience with this card?
Regards
Bart

I have this onboard card (see system Details to the left). It does fine for me with full DVD rips (VIDEO_TS Folders) and AVI, Xvid, and MP4 video. If you have a sample file, I can try it on mine. Did you pair it with at least a dual core?

Second Post ...

When using:
HDMI audio and video (over one cable)
- vs -
DVI-to-HDMI video and
SPDIF Optical Digital Audio
(2 separate cables)

... Is there anything that needs to be changed for MP3's to be played properly (ie. without pops and clicks) ... like maybe inside FFDShow?

Trying to figure out this problem:

    Hi all,

I have no found (after running SAF5 for ages) that some MKV files have no audio??

Before anyone says upgrade to SAF6, I need SAF5 for audio profiles (reducing volumed based on source) - And SAF6 does not support this.

I think it has been working fine, until I upgrade to ATI 11.7 (although not 100% sure of this)

I have reinstalled SAF5 but no joy.

I have tested through graphstudio (outside of MePo) but the same results.

I have attached a screen grab of graphstudio, where you can see there is no connected audio pin???

Details of a MKV that is not working are:

The audio looks the same between the two videos, the only noticable difference is the ID??

I'm not sure if this is the way I am muxing into an mkv file, but it appears that using lavf/MediaPortal ignores the default track flag?

for example, I have the following movie.mkv with 264 video, a TrueHD track marked as default audio track, and a secondary commentary audio track.

The movie always starts with the secondary audio track, and I have to manually select the correct track.

This doesnt seem to happen in MPC-HC (ie, it selects the primary audio track), but MP is much better IMO for home theater usage.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for any help -

    Hi.
In SAF6 you can define default audio/subtitle track language. It is working fine in Graphstudio, but MePo ignore it completelly.

Yes, since it is by the design (GrapheDit doesn't have any control over the streams where MP obeys the ones that user has selected in config).

I think there is no support currenly for the default track in MP side.

OK, is there any kind of hack I can do to get this to work? Its a pain, especially for the kids, to manually select the correct audio track to play. The way I rip, the correct audio track is always the 1st one, and the secondary tracks are after that. It currently seems to always choose the LAST audio track. Is there a way to get it to always choose the FIRST audio track?

I believe, but have not verified it, that when I was using Haali for a mkv splitter, it chose the 1st audio track. But I really like lavfs support for bitstreaming.

Just curious: whose "responsibility" is it to select the correct audio track, MP as the player, or lavf as the splitter? Does MP ask "give me the best choice for audio track", or does MP ask "give me the list, and Ill choose"? If its MP, maybe I can try my hand at building a custom MP with it hardcoded to be the audio track with the lowest ID. Im a .Net developer, but have never tried building MP.

Not sure if you've tried this or if it's been mentioned, but from memory there are options in mediaportal configuration to choose prefered audio stream language. I can't remember if this is just for the TV section or if there is also an option under videos.

    Hi hoborg,
I have onboard graphic ATI radeon HD 3200. It plays everything pretty well. However, I have sometimes stuttering, or better said one shutter in HD video in a while. It doesn't disturb a lot but I was wondering what will/might be improved if I change to another graphic card.
    Once you recommended to me
    ASUS EAH5450 SILENT/DI/1GD3(LP), Radeon HD 5450, 1GB DDR3, VGA, DVI, HDMI (90-C1CP20-L0UANABZ/90-C1CP2U-L0UANAYZ)

Is it still this one or maybe better
    ASUS EAH6450 SILENT/DI/1GD3(LP), Radeon HD 6450, 1GB DDR3, VGA, DVI, HDMI (90-C1CQ0F-L0UANAYZ

Do you or anybody else have experience with this card?

I get that one one of my HTPCs, but not the others now that I've enabled the Refresh Rate Change option in media portal setup. I have an old 1080i TV which can only accept 1920x1080@25Hz, so I couldn't set the refresh rate properly.

I notice on slow panning shots that I get "stuck" frames now and then. I've just built a new HTPC which is connected to my 1080p projector and was getting audio breakup problems, which I think was also caused by having a fixed refresh rate. Since I enabled the refresh rate changer option, it's really smooth and the "stuck" frames have gone.

Maybe that's what is causing your problem. Or have I mis-understood the problem you're having?
