I noticed this because my online videos were too dark.

Is it an option to let the installer ask what kind of screen is connected to the htpc (16-235 or 0-255). So that most people don't have issues with this?

Well, i think the most users have no idea what it means, so ading such option in to installer will only confuse them :)
Maybe "i have connected:"
-TV
-Monitor
can be added.

    +1
I am definitely one of those users!
Of TV and monitor, which is likely to be 16-235 and which 0-255?

That's what I meant. Would be great if that could be implemented.

Many modern TVs are 0-255 devices. To get the correct result check what the GPU drivers are using as color space.

    Or:

    Tv(16-235)
    Monitor(0-255)

Many modern TVs are 0-255 devices. To get the correct result check what the GPU drivers are using as color space.

Looking at my ATI CCC, it only seems to have one checkbox for Dynamic Range (under Video - Color) which isn't ticked and even if it was I guess that would apply to both my monitor (LCD) and TV (CRT), which probably each use different colorspaces (although I tend to only play video on my TV).

    @hoborg

When I looked into the ffdshow video decoder configuration, I saw that under rgb conversion the output is set to 0-255. Why not 16-235? Most people use a TV with that range I think.

Well, it is only affecting non h.264/VC-1/MPEG-2 formats (xvid/divx for example).
But yes, anyone can change it.

You probably need to check any other codecs (LAV, CoreAVC) you might be using that also have such a setting, so perhaps just being able to set this for ffdshow when installing SAF wouldn't necessarily be the end of it.

Everything else is setup correctly. Only this came to my attention. I'm not sure if the lav decoder was setup that way or if I changed it manually. In ccc I changed the dynamic range to 16-235 and under desktop I changed it to rgb limited. So everything should be fine in my setup.

But for inexperienced users it is a bit confusing I think.

    Thanks.
I doubt i can do such check by simple way.

Maybe the best will be to add this option to SAF START menu, so user can switch between the two optinos.

I'd say that would be worth it if it switches all the decoders (ffdshow, LAV) at the same time, but if it only switches ffdshow then it probably just makes more sense to make users aware that they need to check this option in all the video decoders they use.

Have similar situation... Just reported a bug!
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/bugreports-74/dynamc-refresh-rate-105094/#post836851

I have a problem with stuttering x264 playback with newest SAF 6.x (both on Cyberlink and ffdshow DXVA) with extended desktop configuration.
System ist core i5 & Nvidia GTX 560 TI - so performance should be OK.

If only one screen is used, playback seems smoother.
How can I get smooth playback with 2 screens connected - MP on the extended desktop?

    P.S.

Is there any updates on playing DTS-WAV from MP bitstreamed?
I installed latest saf but still i get only noise. If i try to play file in GraphStudio, it crashes immediately!
