There is no reason to have double audio devices installed, you can even disable integrated Realtek in BIOS if you using only HDMI.

just for the record i did the same but i lost sounds in games ;)
Make sure you setup default audio device in Windows setting.
I used this for years, never had a problem.

maybe it doesn't happens with all games, disabling audio card in bios makes my Farcry3 game no sound .
Video playing is it ok in game and in players also windows sounds are ok.

    bye

..., but if HD4000=HD6450 i can try with Intel ......

That is 3D performance (games). The intel QuickSynch decoder performance is incomparable. I dont have exact numbers here, but for example if 6450 can decode 1080p 60fps at lets say 80fps over DXVA, where the intel can have 250FPS over QuickSynch ...[DOUBLEPOST=1355137911][/DOUBLEPOST]

Strange. I never had audio problem in any game.

i still don't understand why ppl still benchmarking decoders fps when the max standard fps is 60 ;) so i don't think max benchmarked fps could be a good metrics to misure decoders ;)
I see more interesting powerconsumption and QUALITY in deinterlacing and postpreocessing.

    i don't have any hd4000 gpu so i can't compare.

i'm using passthrough for all the permitted audio formats in ffdshow decoder or lavf, but i don't think they are used in FC3 game.
In FC3 i can hear sound from prerendered video inside game, no audio in game menu or while i'm playing.

that is not a big issue i reactivated the sound card in bios and i get all the sounds form HDMI ;)

Is not there ingame sound options what exactly the game engine should output and over what device?
Just for test try to connect HDMI directly PC -> TV (to eliminate reciever) and disable passthrough.

unfortunately it is not possible to choose what audio render is using the fc3 game. Hdmi device is the default in windows 7

i will try to do that test as soon my family is not watching tv by htpc, i hope it will happen next weekend ;)

I am still getting the same error "Unable to Play AVC" in MediaPortal using the newest version released and with the Quicksync profile enabled on my HD4000 when DXVA is selected as the codec to use for H264. Any further steps I need to take? Thanks.

And if you set normal FFDshow instead of DXVA one?
FFDshow DXVA is not used with Quicksync at all. MePo shoul auto fall back to FFDshow Video decoder.

If I set it to the normal FFDShow, it works without a hitch. Same as it did initially.
