Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

One other thing, if I try to play the same mkv in Graphstudio, it seems to be fine - however the graph shows that it is using ffdshow, and not the decoder that is set in MePo (PDVD11 or MS codec) is this correct or is something amiss?

Cheers!

Yes, it is.
In Graphstudio, you will have default SAF decoders setings.

AW: Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Hope FFDShow h.264 crashes should be fixed now.
I tried to play Cavalcade (Lossless) from Airshark's post with the previous SAF6 version and I also got a crash in MPC-HC and GraphStudio. But not right away, it happens after 2 or 3 seconds (and that time varies also from each try). New version of SAF6 (with newer FFDShow) still crashes as well. Also I tried to play the file in GraphStudio and wanted to switch to another video codec, but GraphStudio crashes, when I delete the ffdshow DXVA video decoder.

// ah, it does not crash when I delete the EVR Renderer first. Inserting the MS DTV-DVD codec (and the EVR renderer again) works, this way the file is played without a crash.

Also tried it again, same happens, MP crashs.. mhh maybe there is no other way to wait for a fix :/

    Airshark:
Right now, you can disable h.264 in FFDshow DXVA decoder or use PDVD11 decoder.
It should be already fixed in latest FFDshow revision...

Well, how do you configure SAF, so that PDVD11 or MS DTV-DVD is used? Is it sufficient to set the merit of ffdshow DXVA to 'do not use'? (I mean for MPC-HC etc., not just MediaPortal.)

Disabling hw accleration in the ffdshow dxva decoder is not a good option for these sample video files. Even a Phenom II with 3.2 GHz does not seem to have sufficient power to decode it in software with ffdshow :D.

    Spooky:
This DXVA crash only happend with broken/damaged h.264 streams. Normal files should play just fine with latest SAF.
In MPC-HC settings, you can add PDVD11 or MS DTV-DVD decoder and set it as prefered, so it will be used instead of default FFDshow DXVA decoder.

I see. Well, all other ("normal") h.264 I have play fine anyway, so currently it's not really an issue for me.

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

    Hi!
I think I have the dreaded LiveTv audio/video out of sync with ffdshow. I am using SAF 6 with PDVD 11 as video decoder
but fffdshow as audio codec, passthrough coax to my amplifier. Everything set up as shown in first post for LiveTv. All else, works
without problem. Posted also here as it seems to be a general MePo and ffdshow problem.
Is it not possible to use pdvd11 as audio codec and bypass ffdshow?

    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Cheers, Bluebear.

There is no such issues with other PVR software like GB-PVR/NPVR. But both of them using MS demultiplexer to split TS streams.
So the source of problem must be in MediaPortal TS reader.
There is nothing i can do with that, this problem was reported to MePo team years ago...

I bet if you play your recording in Graphstudio (or rename *.ts to *.m2ts), there will be no problem at all with A/V desync.

Thanks Hoborg I will check and report back. I kind of hoped this might be codec. But I have also blamed my dish settings and my tvcard drivers, but this also happens with another tvcard so it is not.

No, he has a different issue. The audio and video gradually going out of sync in LiveTV only happens with the ffdshow video codec in LiveTV.

@bluebear: is your audio ahead of the video? And is it steady (i.e. it does not get worse over time)?
