Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

You're right Hoborg,

It's just that I plan to reinstall my HTPC, so would like to go for a "clean" install if possible - but I think I'll give it a try ;-)

BTW, still a silly question - I posted an issue in SAF 5 development where there was an issue if the install was done as another user, the settings being applied to the user doing the install instead of the logged in one, is this still the case?
I'm in a domain, the auto logged in user is not an admin, and I have to install in "Run as..." mode with an admin account - Shall I define the auto logged user as local admin for the install?

Thanks for your work on SAF, this is definitely the best codec pack I found so far - keep the good work!

Felix

Yes, that is still the problem.
Admin user using different registry, so if you install SAF by run as admin, SAF modify admin registry.

you simply need to be logged as admin.

Re: AW: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Yes thanks, that's what I thought, but that's not what my question is. My concern is whether using different colorspaces (NV12 for PDVD/LiveTV, RGB32 for ffdshow/everything else) will mean some things won't look right, as obviously my TV can only be calibrated to one or the other.

This have nothing to do with TV...
Here is processing chain:
Decoder colorspace outpupt -> GPU -> TV(monitor).

What outputing GPU have nothing to do with SAF.

But obviously what goes in the GPU affects what comes out of it ;)

So, if one particular colorspace is needed to get the correct colors/brightness, etc fed into the GPU then using a different colorspace will result in the wrong information going in and coming out of the GPU. Now if I calibrate my TV to make it look right in these circumstances, it might not look right when some other video is decoded using the appropriate colorspace.

I'd imagine that if all material is decoded using the appropriate colorspace, then the output from the GPU will not vary widely and the TV can then be calibrated once and correctly display all the different material.

AW: Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

    SAF 6.00 SVN20110531 out
    - MPC-HC filter/player updated to rev. 1.5.2.3158
    - FFDShow updated to rev.3866
    - LAVF updated to .28
    - PDVD decoder updated to 1.0.0.2913 (604.zip) - *unlocked* SAF only

Please, test new PDVD decoder revision in LiveTV
There is a problem playing h.264 *.ts recordings outside MePo - LAVF doesn't like FFDshow DXVA decoder and crash the player. Disabling DXVA in ffdshow dxva decoder or use PDVD decoder will fix that issue.

btw. hoborg, do you have any ties to the ffdshow development team or post in their forums or anything? If so, maybe you can point that bug out?

    I already did.

    Answer?

I am not going to invest any more time in this. The stream is corrupt. Don't use DXVA or use a different splitter. Or find someone else to fix it.

    :(

I am thinking to add profile to FFDshow DXVA decoder to disable DXVA for *.TS and *.M2TS h.264 streams.

Hm, but the streams aren't corrupt, as someone pointed out. Why would they provide corrupted HD sample files?

// oh wait, that answer was not in regards to the THX sample file

I am thinking to add profile to FFDshow DXVA decoder to disable DXVA for *.TS and *.M2TS h.264 streams.
Well, surely not all *.ts and *.m2ts h.264 streams will behave that way, or will they?
