Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

@Hoborg

Big thx for all the great work so far!

But I have an issue. I normally use saf 5. In there I could get DTS-HD and DOLBY DIGITAL TRUE-HD working with the combination of the ffdshow audio codec and the arcsoft audio renderer (instead of default).

Now in SAF 6 (latest version) I cannot use this comination anymore. I can only choose lav audio decoder. Is it even possible with the lav audio decoder to passthrough these formats?

Yes, just use unlocked SAF.

Hi,

I have a strange problem, several mkv videos, cause MP to crash, I get a pop-up window: MediaPortal has stopped working. Windows can search online..
When I return to the Desktop, I don't have the taskbar.

If I open MP again, the same video will cause MP to crash again, but if I play a different video for a second or two, stop the playback, and choose the "problematic" video, it plays well and so the other "problematic" videos, they all play well, and when exiting to desktop I have my taskbar again.

EDIT:
I checked all these videos with Graphstudio, they all failed to play, but then I've noticed that all of them have internal subtitles and the subtitle node from the LAV splitter is connected to an Internal Script Command Interpeter block and not to FFDSHOW DXVA block, so I enabled internal subtitles with DXVA (It was disabled) After enabling internal subtitles in DXVA, these files played fine with Graphstudio.

But not in MP, the problem with MP remains the same, first I have to start a video without internal subtitles, stop it, and then I play those with the internal subtitles.

I've tried to disable DXVA subtitles completely (MP subtitles also disabled) but it doesn't help.

I've changed in MP setup, h.264 video decoder - from ffdshow DXVA video decoder to ffdshow video decode and the problem disappeared.

Any advice on how to solve it?

And about subtitles:

1. If I enable internal subtitles with DXVA, how do I switch subtitles, from internal sub 1 -> internal sub 2 -> external subs.

Any tip will help.

Many thanks in advance.

Your GPU have problems with DXVA.
What GPU do you have?

Can I install LAV CUVID in addition to SAF6.00 ?

I have this, but with latest nvidia drivers, my cpu use is very high compared to using PDVD11 codecs, when you download, dont, bother with the installer, just unpack folder and double click ax file to register.

mhm this happens only with MS DTV for h.264 codec. Hoburg is there a way to downgrade to an older PDVD 11 codec version to test if the older ones work better? The newest one results in crazy picture jumping from time to time.

Hi hoborg and thanks for a quick answer, my gpu is a HD 6770, just bought it last weak after I thought all my problems from my last postings came from HD 2600 which was too old.

Just to remind you, the problem I've mentioned above only occurs when starting MP and playing MKV with embedded subtitles.

If after starting MP I play any movie, MKV without embedded subtitles or any Xvid or Divx, afterwords playing MKV with embedded subtitles is OK.

I've the latest catalyst drivers, and video options in the CCC are set up per you suggestions in SAF 5.02 first page. I also have pull down set to on which I don;t know if it's relevant.

    Thanks

    Hi Hoborg,

after changing from SAF 5 to 6 (unlocked) i´have some trouble with several MKV. When starting them in Mediaportal it crashes completely and I am back on Desktop. I figuered out, that the problem is the ffdshow(DXVA) codec, with PDVD11 it works. System is an 785 AMD-onboardchip. In the annex there´s a mediainfo.txt from one file.
I hope that you´ve got the sollution.

    Thanks a lot.

LAV Audio Decoder is still not capable of doing this. I've asked to add this feature some times in official thread. No answer. You can add ffdshow audio processor as postprocessor filter, and add delay with it. I'm currently stuck on ffdshow audio decoder because of this.

I've asked hoborg exactly this some posts ago... No answer either. I've seen them in regular MPEG2 TV Channels... I'm using old Cyberlink .ax manually registered to handle MPEG2 content in the mean time.

    bye!

    Hello hoborg,

First of all :D for this codec package it's very wonderfull.

Previously I used saf 5.0 and that one worked to have 5.1 channel with AAC audio files through spdif but it's not the case for this last version. What needs to be configured?

    Hi hoborg!

    Hi hoborg!

PGS subtitle aren't working here by default! After unticking "Deliver only Forced Subtitles" all is working as exspected! Logs and screenshot are attached!

    Best regards

    Helios

This option is controled by your answers durning SAF install.

Unfortunately no if i press "No, my player can display subtitles (MediaPortal, etc...)" during installation like in SAF 5 (Screenshot 1)! Then i will be immediately directed to the first "Audio passthrough window/question" (Screenshot 2)! If i press Yes, then i will be asked for the kind of subtitles!

    Best regards

    Helios
