Yes, I know, but which one should be better? What are the advantages of PDVD 11 over MS and vice versa?:D
There are virtually no "advantages". Just try the MS one first and if you experience any issues with it (like a short pause every 10 seconds or so), switch to PDVD.

For TV use PDVD or MS one.

Try yourself and use the one which will work better :)

Your right, no reason to argue with this:) I have tried both already, somehow MS seamed to be more stable on long term use. But it was against PDVD 10, i did not try 11 yet. Any major improvements in version 11 that are worth mentioning?

maybe it is just a feeling, but on hd channels pdvd seems gives a bit better quality then ms, but on SD pdvd is providing a much better quality then ms ;)

    imho on my systems

    Hey,

I don't know if this is the right place, but my question is: How can i now if i'm reproduce in 24fps?

    HTPC
    ASUS P8H67-M PRO REV 3.0
    INTEL CORE i5 2500 (3.3GHZ) SKT 1155
    ASUS H6450 SILENT 1GB DDR3 PCI-E

    Plasma
    Panasonic TX-P50VT20 CTV-Multimedia

    Receiver
    Onkyo TX-NR708

And i'm using SAF 6 and my connections are all with HDMI passthrough.

P.S.: Hoborg, thanks for SAF, it's really great.

    i got the following problem,
since i installed SAF 6 mpc-hc crashes every time i try to play a 10bit mkv file. Also tried it on my notebook which has a ati gpu instead of nvidia and i got the same result. Anyone here who had same problem and was able to fix it ??

Just to learn more about MediaPortal working with different codecs, I uninstalled SAF 6 (it's so easy to reinstall it) and installed the LAVF package mpei instead. Now, all playback issues I had before (DVD menu is black screen until arrow key is pressed, OnlineVideos crash when playing 720p material, playback of some xvid files) are all gone.

I think that instead of just blaming playback issues on MediaPortal (just because stuff plays back in perfectly in GraphStudio), maybe some time could be spent on making SAF 100% compatible with MediaPortal (like LAVF seems to be)? All issues seem to be because of FFDShow forcing itself to be used instead of LAVF even though I've set MediaPortal not to use it.

    Thanks

I also tried the LAV filters. I got similar results with SAF 6.03 and LAV filters. I still have this issue: DVD menu is black screen until arrow key is pressed.

I also discovered that if I use the LAV video decoder, I get better results with Live TV. I had 2 channels, Discovery HD and Animal Planet HD, who began to stutter, when I tuned that channel (the stutter disappeared after 5sec~60sec. This happened with all SAF versions, codec combinations etc. But now with LAV video decoder this problem is gone. So my vote goes to LAV video decoder for all video! :)

    Hello,

    edit:
never mind, problem was in front of the pc, entry was just hidden.. *head -> table*
    /edit

is there a way to get avisynth to work with SAF?
The ffdshow-Version which gets installed with SAF lacks the corresponding entry it its menu.
I was able to get the entry after installing ffdshow again after installing SAF, but this is hardly a "clean" solution.

Or has SAF any capabilities of enhancing SD-video? I am building a new HTPC which has the power for some postprocessing which i would like to use on my mostly SD collection of tv-shows.

    best regards

AW: SAF v6 (based on LAVF)

Is it possible that since I installed new SAF v.6.0.4 that it takes about 10seconds til a movie starts?
It seems that since this update that seems to happen...anyone?
