Yes, LAV video decoder is good, but i am not a MediaPortal user, and i need:
-subtitles support
-audio/subtitles stream switching
-DXVA + subtitles
-DVD playback
My HTPC is based on NPVR and right now only FFDshow video decoder can do it.
Your video is on local source or network?
If local - can you create a sample in MKV merge and share it?

i got all my vids from network NAS Storage.
The nas delivers around 80mb/s readspeed
When i place the files on local harddisk of htpc it opens faster!
BUT!
when i open any movie file which is on network drive with vlc player it opens up immediately.
Same for 35gb files or whatever size - vlc open immediately!
before i bought the nas i had a harddisk attached to router which had a max of 5mb/s read and it opened fast also in MP!
I installed new SAF package because my DTS/DTS-MSTR audio didnt work (when i tested the sound about 2months ago it worked - i yesterday had time to set up MP and tried but sound didnt work then so i installed new SAF, which gave me dts and dts mstr back but now I got this problem!)
I dont know which saf version i used before - 6.x
I now tried Windows Mediaplayer in Windows 7 ....same here takes ages! Only thing which opens immediately is VLC
Im using HD2000 integrated cpu graphics

VLC is not DirectShow based player, it is working in different way.
Well, search MePo threads, thare was more similar reports and possible solution.

You can try SAF5, it is based on Haali. But is it outdated now.
