Codecs SAF v6 (based on LAVF) (9 Viewers)

Hello,

This may be a stupid question, but I recently installed SAF and are using the LAV Audio Decoder. The problem I'm having is that it's impossible to switch between output devices. I want to change between optical output to my receiver and 5.1 USB headset for late nights When using FFDShow Audio Decoder it works without a problem (Default DirectSound Device in MP), but when using LAV I only get sound over the optical connection (no sound at all when choosing the headset). Why is this? Help appreciated, love the pack otherwise so I want to keep using it.

Did you tryed to disable audio passthrough in LAVF audio decoder while using headphones?

Wow, that was a quick answer, thanks Yes, I tried that and it works. It's a pain in the a** to change it manually each time though. With FFDShow I have passthrough enabled and it still works when changing output to headphones, don't know why. Does FFDShow turn off passthrough when not supported?

Not sure.
You can export two separate LAVF audio setting from registry, then execute them if you want swap audio output. You can even map that on remote controler buttons if your remote support it. More users already using this method.

I don't know about mapping directly to a remote button (never tried that) but you could look at using ARC to switch between exported registry settings (or even between MPAR renderer and DefaultDirectSound renderer).

Hoborg, and everyone else.

I was troubled with a LAV bug with playback on dvd's. Upon ff or rew the image would stop and MP would crash. (tried LAV filter pack from MP and previous SAF's, result was the same)
Now, with SAF 6.16 this is resolved. I think the bug is gone from LAVF 0.53.2 At least on my system.

OK - seems that within MePo I can't play dts - the sound shtutters incredible. When playing the File in Graphstudio it works just fine. Does anyone else have this problem?

Check what audio renderer you se in MePo. Should be default audio renderer.

nep - it's the same - also when I switch before I start MePo - only codec producing a clean sound is the MS-DTV-DVD. Ah - yes - I use SPDIF passthrough and send the signal over optical to the receiver.

A second thing I don't understand: When playing a file in Windows over HDMI I have Stereo sound and when switching the output to optical I have 5.1. In MePo I have when playing a dts signal I get no sound over HDMI but only over Optical at the receiver. On the other hand - when selecting no SPDIF passthrough in the setup I only get stereo over optical to the receiver ... any ideas?

SAF have downmix to stereo set as default if no passthrough is selected durning SAF setup.
For example WinXP mixer wont downmix it to stereo automatically if the audio is send over HDMI. This will cause missing channels.

I wonder if in future you could add a shortcut to the ffdshow audio processor config in SAF, not just the ffdshow audio decoder config? This is because I use the LAV decoder but also the ffdshow audio processor to use it's mixer and currently there's no easy way to access the processor settings, other than when MP is playing something or if I add it as a preferred external filter in MPC-HC and then play something in that, neither of which is ideal.
